Left thigh very sore after racing on it at Long Pig and from the drive home. Rest today and back to intervals Tuesday evening.

Easy warm-up.

Orienteering race 1:20:00 [3]

Pig Long. Started off slower than normal due to very sore left thigh. Running at about 80-90% of my normal speed. Thick woods and sore leg made it tough to get into this race but after a few silly errors on 10, 11, 12, and 13 I decided to just run the rest of the course hard and ignore the sore leg. Finished strong and that felt good. Happy with result considering I wasn't planning to race (2nd). Swampfox 1st, Sudden 4th.

Orienteering race 40:00 [4]

Pig Middle. Cold and wet. Started first and ran by myself the entire race - which was nice to focus on the map. But never felt into the race/map but that was likely due to the slippery conditions. A few small errors but was able to run strong from start to finish. Banged left thigh late in the race and took it easy on CP16 and finish. (1st)

Warm-up/cool down.

Orienteering race 15:00 [5]

Pig Sprint! Ran well and stayed focussed. Some hesitation and one minor error (lost 10 seconds). Great way to kick off the season. (1st)

Orienteering 20:00 [2]

Picking up controls at Ledges in Cuyahoga National Park. 1:5K map. Thanks to NEOOC for letting us get in some pre-sprint training.

Training still a little higher than last few years but quality is also higher as well. Now it is time to race.

403 hill intervals. 3 of the flats (2:10-2:15, with 1:15 rest), and 2 of the hills (3:30 with 2:00 rest) with Meridian, Etoile, Fossil, Nev Monster and Bond Girl. Running in shorts! Running on grass! Sweet. Taper schmaper!
