Note

I was the race director or co race director of the Raid the Hammer Adventure Run every year except one (2013) between 2000 and 2016. I ran the half raid in 2013. With me up north this weekend it will be the first RTH I haven’t hosted or raced. But wow what a great and varied race course Anvil has set and the DV is pretty darn awesome at the moment. Good luck to all competitors!

This year will be (at least) third time a Canadian medal winning Olympian has done the race. Adam van K (Gold and multiple medals) raced back in 2002 or 2003. And this year’s Olympian ran last year and she won bronze for Canada in London (in the 92nd minute) and she won bronze in 2016 (and plays for the Seattle Reign FC). Cool.

I’d love to see a series of 9 or 10 raids across Canada coupled with an urban sprint race the day before.

Van, Whistler, Canmore, Collingwood, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Halifax

Note

Here is a link to a new research initiative that I am leading (the grant last winter that during writing caused me to develop chest pain). It is called Boreal Water Futures.
