Saturday Jun 2

Road Bike race 4:46:54 [5]89.0 mi (3:13 / mi)
Mt. Hood Classic - Day 3
9200' climbing
Made Day 1 look like a walk in the park.
Hell wishes it could be this hot.
Felt good early - led the first descent. There was an early break but no one seemed to care.
Then someone turned on the oven.
Organizers ran out of water at the first feed. Limited supply at the next. Survived half a dozen near shellings. Stayed with the top 20 every time the peleton split on the climbs - especially the KOMs.
The suffering was almost non-stop.
By the bottom of the final climb - was covered in goose-bumps and starting to get the 'shakes'. Ten minutes into the climb - got tossed. Soon had to stop and jump in a stream on the way up. Partially recovered, but the damage was done. Passed about a dozen riders in the last 30k. The last 3k were about the hardest I can ever remember doing on a bike. Felt nauseas on the shuttle to the start line. In the final analysis - absolutely amazing that I only lost 15 min on the lead group.

Friday Jun 1

Road Bike race 55:00 [5]18.5 mi (2:58 / mi)
Mt. Hood Classic - Day 2
TT
1950' climbing
Perhaps only one without aero-gear. Not even bars.
Went OK considering - lost several minutes

Thursday May 31

Road Bike race 3:17:24 [5]66.0 mi (3:00 / mi)
Mt. Hood Classic - Day 1
7150' climbing
Way too hot. Suffer-fest.
Got shelled early on second last climb - sprinted and managed to close the 200m gap. Cooled with water - stayed with peleton fine after that.
Final climb - no attacks but had to close the gap three times due to riders popping off left right and center. Less than a quarter of starting riders remained in the lead group over the top. Sprint started 400m out - couldn't follow.

Felt good surviving through that heat.

Sunday May 27

Road Bike 2:00:00 [1]45 km (2:40 / km)
Passed on Half Knacker and SFU races. Tried Vets. Felt terrible - prob yesterday's eye cross. Booked before the dikes. Slashed sidewall on construction sign. Short-stem was next to useless - but enough to limp home.
Running 2:00:00 [4]23 km (5:13 / km)
shoes: XA
Canyons - Sword - Lookout - Round.
Felt surprisingly good.
Last 20 min easy.
