Seymour - didn't seem slow - but obviously wasn't fast. Puts Baker climb in a bit of doubt.

Really fun run in Pacific Spirit with L. First run since accident that didn't involve straight up or hammering straight down.

Road Bike 1:30:00 [3]40 km (2:15 / km)
To from UBC plus warmup
Road Bike race 30:00 [5]
Last crit of the year. Not easy being the second time on the road bike in about a month. Performed better than expected. About 4 or 5 laps in I broke away with another guy. Actually I was just following his wheel as we hammered up the climb. At the top we eased and a couple others caught - but we burned it down and put a big gap on the field. I took a good pull across the start/finish then motioned for another to take the lead. When I got positioned myself behind the other three I stole a look over my right shoulder... big mistake - I inadvertently drifted into the left hand ditch... managed to bunny hop out but by then I lost the train. I tried to sprint down the hill to catch back on - but shaky legs and the fact that they were screaming downhill made it hard to catch. I almost got them on the bottom straight away but the climb finished me. The peleton caught me and I continued with them. The break I helped to start was gone. Good thing I stayed out front most of the time as the second last lap on the final curve and climb there was a big crash. There were still a half dozen of us on the final lap. I lead most of it as the others were resting their legs for the sprint. I made sure to stay second wheel as there was no way I wanted to crash on practically my first day back on the road. I started the sprint way out - midway through the last turn - something I should have done in my previous races. I road everyone off my wheel and took the sprint by a mile. None of it mattered - but it was nice to race again.
