Wednesday Jun 27

running 31:00 [3]
Easy run through Gotts Park. Ran over some beautiful areas of rolling hills on the golf course. Felt like i was going at a decent speed even though i wasnt pushing at all.

Tuesday Jun 26

running 1:20:00 [3]
Intervals with P+B around a very wet route, at one point we were a foot deep in water. Was supposed to be 6 x 4min efforts but i got stuck beind slower people on narrow footpaths or in the water so only ran 3 of the efforts hard. Got charged by a very aggressive cow.
running 12:00 [5]
The 3x4min efforts, all were up very steep hills. Loving it.

Monday Jun 25

Free weights-core stability 40:00 [2]
Would have gone for a run today but i fear i may have drowned. So i didnt.

Sunday Jun 24

orienteering 1:12:00 [3]
Popped out to Danefield to see YHOA win their 3rd (?) JIRCS (well done) then got copies of the relay maps and did the relay in the rain after they'd all left. Ran at an easy pace until the final 5mins when i realised i could equal the winning time (i think) so went a bit harder. Smooth orienteering with a few hesitations.
running 1:03:00 [3]
Had a quick pit stop to change shoes and have a gel then went for a run on the chevin, seemed a nice area, would make a good extension to Danefield.

Wednesday Jun 20

running 11:00 [3]
Warm up
orienteering race 17:00 [5]
Aire sprint race in Roundhay Park. Felt very sluggish at the start but when the proper orienteering started in the wood i got a bit excited by it and flowed nicely through the controls. Muppeted the 2nd to last one by thinking i was on a sprint race scale map (which i wasnt) so ran past the control and had to go back, losing about 20 secs. Very enjoyable overall.
running 32:00 [3]
Warm down including re-running most of the course again.
Free weights-core stability 40:00 [2]

Tuesday Jun 19

running 6:00 [3]
Warm up
running 14:00 [3]
Warm down
running 42:00 [5]
8 x 3mins with 3 mins recovery at Pudsey+Bramley, kept up with Jamie on the 1st few but struggled after that as my thighs were tired so he was finishing about 20 metres ahead. Lovely evening.

Monday Jun 18

running 32:00 [3]
Recovery run in manky Birmingham parks

Sunday Jun 17

running 2:06:00 [3]
Long run in the Clent hills+surrounding countryside. Quite warm and a bit tired from yesterday but kept up a good pace and tackled lots of decent climbs.

Saturday Jun 16

running 32:00 [3]
Lunch time run around some manky birmingham parks
running 17:00 [3]
Warm up run to Moor Green Park
running 39:00 [5]
10x1min 'hill' followed by 1.10min active recovery back down the hill. Then 5x1.25min sprints around an undulating circuit with about 1.40 active recovery. Good session, was running very strongly, pushing hard and felt like had good form.
running 13:00 [3]
Warm down

Friday Jun 15

Free weights-core stability 40:00 [2]
This was bloody hard work. I want to go orienteering!
running 1:02:00 [3]
Steady through Meanwood and Adel woods. Got to wear lycra for the 1st time in 3 months (always a bonus) as it was so cold+wet .
cycling 15:00 [2]
Cycle to and from Meanwood

Thursday Jun 14

running 14:00 [3]
Warm up down to Meanwood
running 38:00 [4]
Tempo run. Who needs Finland when you can run in the pissing rain around Yorkshire? My new OMM jacket was awesome but i did bang my head into a branch as couldnt see due to the peak on the hood.
running 15:00 [3]
Warm down
Free weights-core stability 40:00 [2]

Wednesday Jun 13

running 31:00 [3]
Lunch time easy run through Gotts park. Having an explore.
running 15:00 [3]
Run to Becketts Park
orienteering 21:00 [5]
Aire sprint race in the rain. Was very scrappy and must have lost at least 1.30 mins which is shocking on a sprint race. Running strongly where possible but most of the wood was bramble infested and i tried to avoid the worst of it. Bit of a weird race really as after a while i lost all faith in the map and was surprised when anything fitted. Was good fun weaving through the buildings at the end.
running 23:00 [3]
Warm down and run home

Tuesday Jun 12

Free weights-core stability 40:00 [3]
Hands a bit sore from all the wheelchair racing i did today at uni. Made a sensible decision which was to have a last day off running (hopefully) to shift the last bit of the cold thing. Most unlike me, must be getting wise in my old age.

Monday Jun 11

running 29:00 [3]
Gentle down the canal, crazy hot still.
Free weights-core stability 40:00 [2]
Usual, quite tough as not done for a while.

Sunday Jun 10

running 5:00 [3]
Warm up. Felt a bit more up for it after this.
orienteering 1:16:00 [5]
Felt alot better physically today, maybe ive got rid of the cold thing (touch wood). Had a very nice flowing run through some wonderful terrain, prob lost 1.30 mins altogether, some of this on the last control where i was very hesitant (as it was cunningly tucked away). Maybe its the effect of being back in home terrain (ish) but the orienteering felt really natural which it hasnt done for a while.
orienteering 10:00 [3]
Warm down in the sunshine.

Saturday Jun 9

running 5:00 [3]
Warm up. Although i was already very warm.
orienteering 1:23:00 [5]
Twin Peaks day 1. I love high dam so much, its easily one of the top 5 areas in Britain. Was going very smoothly until no.4 when i made a proper 4-5min error when i was too low but had trouble relocating. Got a really good flow going after that and felt more like my old self, which ive hardly done in any races this year. The new shoes hurt my toe so much i was hobbling afterwards. Have to tape it up properly tommorrow.
running 10:00 [3]
Warm down. With Mr Sprot.

Friday Jun 8

running 32:00 [3]
Easy run to test out the new shiny silver o shoes+my throat. The shoes felt very squishy.

Thursday Jun 7

Free weights-core stability 40:00 [2]
Made it a bit longer

Wednesday Jun 6

Note
...hmm maybe it is going to kill me. Woke up feeling like id swallowed a packet of razor blades, which im fairly sure i havent. Looks like i'll be resting for a bit. Was scheduled to knock out 10-11 hrs this week but guess it'll have to be another easy week. Ah well.

Tuesday Jun 5

running 10:00 [3]
Warm up
running 35:00 [5]
Hill reps with P+B. Nice sunny evening. Legs feeling yesterday so suffered quite alot. Whatever doesnt kill you and all that...
running 25:00 [3]
Warm down. Knackered.

Monday Jun 4

running 2:00:00 [3]
Long run on the Bowland Fells. Fantastic place for running: grounds soft so kind on legs, decent hills, terrain and no people to be seen. Got harrassed by 2 large birds (of the ornithological type) who dive bombed me for about 10mins always stopping just above my head. They stopped just as i was about to use my bumbag as a weapon. Felt good.

Sunday Jun 3

running 31:00 [3]
Old school. Felt v flat after yesterday. Legs felt heavy but i guess i did run the equivalent of a national event yesterday even though it wasnt at full pace (as tired).
Free weights-core stability 35:00 [2]
hmm sweaty.

Saturday Jun 2

orienteering 1:37:00 [4]
Ran the Caw national event course from a couple of weeks ago when i couldnt make it. Hopped on the course at the far western end so had to run between the finish and the start at the far eastern end. Total time for course about 91 ish mins so a bit behind Daniel Hubmanns time but then i'm not an international superstar (and the bracken had grown up a bit in places). Good navigation but lost concentration on a couple of the longer legs and didnt keep full map contact. Spooned one leg in a stupid fashion so lost about 3 mins altogether, shouldnt really be losing any time in this sort of area. Offered some encouragement to some of the backmarkers of the Duddon Valley fell race which had Caw summit as one of its last checkpoints. Mentalists.

Friday Jun 1

running 31:00 [3]
Old school route from home. Havent done this route since last winter when it was always pitch black, freezing cold and about 7 in the morning. In contrast it was lovely and warm tonight and felt like running quite hard.
