Friday Nov 30

Free weights-core stability 35:00 [2]
Been feeling really wiped out and worn down for the past week or summat so have decided to have a few days puntering around not doing much, just eating and sleeping. Not too bothered as think training has gone well for the past 11 weeks or so, plus ive got shed loads of work to be getting on with.

Thursday Nov 29

running 1:18:00 [3]
Tried out a new route which involved contouring along the valley for a bit on some new paths, which all seemed to go through peoples gardens. Then picked up the calderdale way (reverse direction of leg 4 maybe) for a bit and climbed up on t'moor where i was set upon by a dog (1st one in weeks). Across moor and down through the woods the usual way. I have decided not to run through dark woods anymore as they are a bit scary, especially when my head torch is prone to cutting out at any second.

Wednesday Nov 28

running 1:00:00 [2]
Easy run up on t'moor. Pleasant.

Tuesday Nov 27

running 39:00 [2]
Warm up+ down, strides and drills.
running 36:00 [5]
Hill reps on the minor road up the hill out the back of the house. 3 x 7 mins with about 5 mins recovery running back down the hill. Awesome session, enjoyed the feeling of really trying to red line towards the limit of what i could take. Hill was at a good steep gradient where you're on your toes the whole time but with a couple of hair pin bends to break up the rhythm. Total climb for each rep was about 170m in about 1km or summat. Great views of all the twinkling lights down in the valley below at the end of each rep.

Sunday Nov 25

running 1:56:00 [3]
Drove the couple of miles to Mytholmroyd, went up the long spur that leads onto Stoodley Pike, had a climb up the tower, carried on, floundered in some tussocks for about 10 mins, ran back past the pike down into the valley, up the other side and home. Marvellous.
C • can you climb up inside? 2

Saturday Nov 24

running 59:00 [2]
Steady/easy

Friday Nov 23

running 37:00 [3]
Steady recovery. Canal-Midgely moor-footpaths-home. Saw a demonic looking deer in the woods that scared the crap out of me.

running 37:00 [2]
Warming up + down, strides and drills pre and post
running 30:00 [5]
Track intervals. 4 x 1500m with 2mins recovery. Id forgotten quite how much i hate track efforts until about 800m into the first 1500m when it hit me. By then it was thankfully too late to back out so i had no choice but than to do the whole session. No company for the efforts but lots of people generally mithering around on the track so lots of motivation to run hard.

Wednesday Nov 21

running 1:06:00 [3]
Run out the back of the house on the newly found path, up onto Midgely Moor. Pretty wet on the top. Running fairly well, although maybe its just running in the dark that makes it seem like im going at a decent pace. Had to slow down somewhat descending down the old cobbled paths cos theyre slippier than ice at the mo.

Tuesday Nov 20

running 33:00 [2]
Warm up and down, on roads : (
running 27:00 [5]
Interval session with Halifax Harriers. 3 x approx 7.30mins (4 loops of a car free road) with minimal recovery between reps. Pretty good session but the surface is too hard for my liking, think i'll try and do my own thing on the track next time as at least the track feels bouncy (even though its prob still pretty hard on the legs). I was proper mincing when we had to turn corners as it was wet and lots of leaves everywhere. On the plus side i bought a tight fitting, short and rather dapper reflective jacket for the princely sum of £1. It doesnt look gay at all.

Sunday Nov 18

running 2:17:00 [3]
The weather looked perfectly fine in the valley and i only took some gloves as an afterthought. However, when climbing out of the valley the drizzle turned to sleet then a full on snow storm above about 300metres. The bottom half of of my legs froze after running through some terrain but thawed out eventually. Decided to try and reach the monument on Stoodley Pike but after getting within about 400m of it i put my hands in a pile of snow and my rubbish woollen gloves became sodden and freezing so i thought better of it. Felt great running the whole way and didnt get tired at all, maybe cold weather running turns me into a super human machine (doubtful).

Saturday Nov 17

running 35:00 [2]
Warming up and down
running 14:00 [2]
Stride and drills pre and post
running 26:00 [5]
Short (approx 50+ secs) hill reps. Short and sharp and hard work. Was going to do some longer reps today but got delayed for various reasons during the day so ended up doing them in the dark.

Friday Nov 16

running 1:34:00 [3]
Headtorch run linking together various routes ive memorised plus some new bits where i was having to mapread, which is quite difficult on a reduced photocopy of a 1:50 000 map. Home-canal-midgley moor-far side of mytholmroyd-up some hill- back down some hill-canal- home.

Thursday Nov 15

Free weights-core stability 30:00 [2]
running 40:00 [3]
Warming up and down. No stride or drills as fell runners are not into that sort of thing.
running 22:00 [5]
Speed session with CVFR in a park in Halifax. Bit of a random session but thought id try it out. I think they kinda made it up as they went along so we did various reps between about 1.20 and 5.40 in length. The recoveries were prob a bit long too so might try out a track session with a different club next week. On the plus side, it was all on grass.

Wednesday Nov 14

running 1:10:00 [3]
I was going to something more intense but had been feeling proper rubbish all day so just went for a potter around some new footpaths in the dark.
Free weights-core stability 30:00 [2]

Tuesday Nov 13

running 1:26:00 [3]
Ran down the canal to Mytholmroyd then went on the CVFR night time fell run. Mostly on footpaths till we got to the fell proper then through the terrain. Decent pace but had to stop a few times to let people regroup.

Monday Nov 12

running 36:00 [2]
Easy recovery up the hill on the other side of the valley.
Free weights-core stability 50:00 [2]
cycling 40:00 [2]
Testing out a few different routes into the station for the daily commute.

Sunday Nov 11

running 2:12:00 [3]
Long run up over Midgley Moor etc. Some paths, some terrain.

Saturday Nov 10

running 1:00:00 [3]
Running to and back from the 7 arches in Adel Woods
orienteering 34:00 [3]
Informal Aire event in Adel. It was difficult to get out the door as there was a McFly special on tv but i managed to watch most of it before leaving. The orienteering was good, no mistakes just a little indecisive on the long leg and a couple of metres off on no.4. Was good to orienteer through woods i usually only run through, suprisingly decent area.

Friday Nov 9

running 30:00 [3]
Warming up and down
running 20:00 [2]
Strides and drills pre and post
running 28:00 [5]
Shorter intervals at Becketts. 1 set = 1min, 1.30 min, 2 min with the recoveries half the efforts. Repeated set 4 times. Bloody hell it was cold tonight.

Thursday Nov 8

running 1:04:00 [3]
Thursday usually=intervals but id had 3hours in the pool today and was feeling a bit tired so thought i jiggle things around and swap tomorrows and todays session. Windy, cold and slightly scary night to be out and about. Saw some homeless people huddling together wrapped in tarpulin in Meanwood, they looked like a couple of the black riders from LOTR so i legged it for about 1km. Sod this urban woodland running.

Wednesday Nov 7

running 1:32:00 [3]
Potter down Meanwood-Adelwoods in the dark. First proper headtorch run of the winter (due to being a lazy student and mostly being able to train in the daylight). Felt good up to about 60mins then my legs felt tired which i put down to last nights session and actually working a proper 8 hr day recently. Boo for work, yay for laziness.

Tuesday Nov 6

running 26:00 [3]
Warm up and down
running 22:00 [2]
Strides and drills pre and post
running 30:00 [5]
Interval session at Becketts. 1min, 2min, 3min, 4min, repeat set twice with half the recovery of the interval time. Running pretty strongly but again tired on the last few, the aim is to start adding intervals on top of this basic session. Quite like this session as it mixes the interval duration and therefore stops me from drifting off and not thinking about what im supposed to be doing.

Monday Nov 5

Free weights-core stability 50:00 [2]
Need some money to buy some heavier weights : (. I was vaguely tempted to log my 1hr of hydrotherapy with the kids on placement today to try and rile the AP police. It required a change of kit as per one of Nail's regulations but i dont think it satisfied the other qualifications, whatever they were.

Sunday Nov 4

orienteering 50:00 [5]
Colour coded at Danefield. I faffed too much this morning so by the time we got to the event they'd run out of maps for the black course, which was annoying. As it turns out i think it was only 1km longer than the brown i ended up running, plus there was more competition with J to the T starting 1min ahead and AL starting a couple of mins behind. Had a very clean run with only a few hesitations, i aimed off a bit too much at no.4 and lost maybe 20secs but that was about it. Felt physically pretty damn good. AL won the run in split (the only one that matters) by an enormous margin but i saw him cheating by recceing it before running the course.
orienteering 1:02:00 [3]
Had a gel then ran most of the course again at an easy pace to see if any of the alternative routes i didnt use in the race were quickest.
C • beastly... 4
running 18:00 [2]
Warm up and also had to run back from the assembly as i thought the buses had stopped running.

Saturday Nov 3

running 1:02:00 [2]
Another exploration run from the new place, went along some of the same paths as yesterday but lots of new ones. Saw a proper ruddy cheeked yorkshire man with a proper flat cap, might have to get one of those myself.
Free weights-core stability 30:00 [2]

Friday Nov 2

running 53:00 [3]
Steady exploration run from Luddendenfoot, didnt take a map and then it started getting dark. I dropped into a valley hoping it was the right one and luckily it was. Should probably take a map in future.
