| Gentle pace up the canal, up the hill to Scotland quarries, round the moor for a while including lots of terrain running. Should probably have run faster but was feeling the usual saturday sleepy tiredness so just enjoyed myself in the warm sunshine. |

| Evening event at Far Isle Farm. Course was a window event with only a tiny bit of map around the control. Predictably i screwed the first 3 controls since i rely on near constant map contact and not running on direction alone. Got it together after that and was pretty clean through the rest. Quite a steep, rough area with some nice bits. |

| Crowden Horseshoe. All was going well until about 20mins in when the route along the ridge hit a particularly exposed bit and it was like stepping into a windtunnel. Spent the next 5mins being buffeted from the side by force 10 winds, being virtually lifted off my feet a few times and generally staggering around like a drunk trying not to fall off the narrow path and into the valley below. This seemed to slow me a little more than the runners ahead so they gained some time here. Spent the next 5 miles slowly, agonisingly reeling in the guy in the 4th place, only catching him at the stile 1min before the finish. Launched myself past him on the final dangerous gully descent and pulled out a gap into the finish. Fun Fun Fun. |

| A couple of weeks ago one of the senior physios challenged me to run home from Airedale on the last day of placement. Measured it in the car: 19miles, eep i thought. Was getting a lift from Mytholmroyd in the morning so only had to get back to there after work therefore cutting off a couple of miles. Also worked out a route that went slightly more directly across the moors than the road goes also knocking off a bit more. Actually really enjoyed it, legs felt good, it was sunny, found some really nice countryside and villages to run through. It was rough through the tussocks on Oxenhope moor but got through them and was on home terrain after that. | Kildwick fell race. Felt pretty good going up the first climb, settled into a decent rhythm descending. On the second and final climb the fella in front slowed to a walk (think hes a track runner) and as the guy just behind him pulled out across the narrow path to overtake him, i burst between them in a flash of fluorescent orange and green. Accelerated away from them and caught someone else on the crest of the climb. Put myself well and truly into lactate heaven catching 5th place on the long descent. He was clearly a local favourite with someone shouting repeatedly 'come on jamie (?) open your legs, theyre coming fast behind'. Sadly i had to disappoint the watching crowds (3 people) by getting to the last kissing gate in front of him, nipping through it, closing it on him and sprinting off down the canal. Classic. |

| A very nice run on Kildwick moor from the hospital. Only discovering this good area for running a couple of miles from Airedale just as im about to finish placement here proves what a numpty i am. Lovely bit of heathery/
brackeny/silver birchy open hilly area. Felt sprightly. |

| Some foxdal action in the terrain on Haworth moor. How fast i can run on a week night is inversely proportional to how busy and stressed i am at work. Today was relatively chilled so the evening run was pleasant and i had a spring in my step. |

| Royds Hall evening event. Pretty clean run, only miss was on 6 where quite frankly the map was pants, the platform was 20metres down a bank below the path whereas the map showed it to be on the same level adjacent to the path, ho hum. Suffering from a bit of post work fatigue and pretty much shuffled round or so it felt. Gorgeous bit of woodlandd though and enjoyed being out in the sunshine. |

| Training with CVFR. Started off pretty quick on the climb up to Peckett Well. Across the moor to High Brown Knoll, turned west and headed down into the wooded clough that joins onto Hardcastle Crags. Through the woods and eventually back to Mytholmroyd. Pace was fairly high sometimes but i minced towards the end when it was getting late in the evening. |

| Another day, another fell race. Mytholmroyd fell race today. Saw Harold Wyber and James Williams at the start. 1st 10mins were steep uphill and i settled into a decent rhythm in about 7th. Got past a few people when we reached the moor and started the descent into Luddenden Valley. Half way down, me and the fella behind performed a Mikka Hakkinen style overtake on the Tod Harrier in front with one of us going down either side of him through the heather. Running along the flatish track in the valley he gestured for me to come past him, like cyclists do in the peleton, but i was suffering in the extreme heat and told him so. On the climb out of the valley i could see 2nd place looking over his shoulder and so dug in. Eventually caught 2nd place just before Cock Hill quarries but was still towing the other guy along. I had witnessed his rapid descent before so knew i had to pull something out the bag. Last 1.5miles were an uncontrolled sprint downhill, hurdling stiles, swerving through gates and praying i wasnt going to trip over else i was fecked. Reached the last kissing gate just before him, went through it nice and slowly, and just pipped him into the finish. Marvellous. |

| Flower Scar fell race. Running along with the leaders for the first 2 mins i thought id either suddenly entered the elite of fell running or they knew something i didnt. Turned out they knew nearly all of the1400ft climb was in the first 1.5 miles of the course. Reached what i thought was the top only to see another higher, steeper peak in the distance which the leaders were already toiling up. Was suffering by the time i got there but most of the next 2.5miles were downhill and fantastically runnable. Awesome fun. Oh and i saw James Williams and James Logue, 2 orienteers who must be worth some points. |

| Coiners fell race. Starts just outside Mytholmroyd, goes up to Stoodley Pike via some very wet moor, back through the plantation, more bogs and a fast downhill finish. Pretty pleased, legs felt good, pushed hard and enjoyed the sunshine. Could hear someone behind me going up to the pike but i floated across the knee deep bogs and left him floundering. Unfortunately id used up all my levitational abilities by the second set of deep deep bogs and he caught up a few seconds but held him off to the finish to take 4th place. |
