running 20:00 [3]
General warming up malarky.
orienteering 14:00 [5]
Sprint qualifier. Should have qualified really but its my own stupid fault. Ran cleanly through 1st 8 then didnt check compass when exiting the wood and chose to follow the massive elephant track through the snow resulting in a 90 degree error and about 40secs time loss. And that was my chance of qualifying gone, simple as that. Rest was fine.

Sprint B final. Just went out and enjoyed the course and running on a decent map. Didnt really push hard enough but only 1x10 second hesitation of time loss. Glad i got through this weekends emit lottery. On at least 3 occasions today my card didnt register and i had to go back and repunch, wasting valuable seconds. Maybe its because im unused to using it, or maybe its because its such a rubbish system.

Warm up/down.
orienteering 42:00 [5]
British Middle champs. Clean through the 1st 2 then bimbled around at 3 for 60secs trying to find the pit from the 2 bushes i was using as attackpoint. Pits generally annoy me and this one certainly did. 15 secs lost at 13 being too far right. After Craney went past me (which happened in about 2 controls) i got scrappy and hesitant through 17, 18, 19 and wasted time, rest was ok. Legs felt worringly fatigued towards the end but on reflection, cutting down on the mistakes would have left me alot higher and with a decent result. Maybe the rough terrain brings everyone closer together in terms of running speed. Enjoyed most of the course.

Midgley moor, Milk Churn Joan, through the woods, down the canal past the highland cows. Dont think im ever going to get any points for spotting any Sheffield based orienteers. Or any orienteers for that matter.
running 11:00 [2]
Strides and drills.
running 12:00 [5]
8 x 1 min x 30 secs. On the moor, uphill a bit i guess.

Some turbo trainer action whilst listening to radio 2 and reading work. 3 things at once = ultra efficient.
running 20:00 [3]
Warm up/down.
running 36:00 [5]
Liver Hill fell race. Legs felt springy warming up. Let the Rossendale youngsters sprint off at the start and when they filled up with lactic acid after the 1st uphill mile i got past them. The moor was proper waterlogged and it was difficult to judge how deep the bogs were so erred on the side of caution for most of them so as to not crock myself. Turned at the top in 6th place but with the same guy i just beat on sat breathing down my neck. Started my sprint with a mile to go and pushed through the pain to finish about 5metres clear of him. Turns out hes a Man Utd fan so it was only right i beat him.
