Hebden Bridge fell race. Running down the canal to the race my legs were not feeling great but i figured with some race adrenaline theyd perk up but sadly 5 mins into the race they slowly started turning into lead. Luckily by this point id opened up enough of a gap over the chasing pack and James Logue was obviously going to win as he'd powered away on the initial climb. It was just a case of grinding it out and i was so glad to finish and keep 2nd place. Would have been nice to be able to really open up and go for it but wouldnt have made any difference to the result, James was on great form and broke the course record. Glorious day for it with stunning views which i had more time than usual to admire.

Saturday Jun 7

running 49:00 [3]
Suddenly realised i hadnt done any training by 18.00 as been v busy so rushed out the door. Warm up to Booth then up through the meadows onto the moor. The sky was threatening rain but it held off.

Just did the most important bits.

Friday Jun 6

running 1:02:00 [3]
Felt much better today so pootled out through the old village, down the valley to Booth and Jerusalem woods (where there was a freshly carved wood sculpture which looked suspisciously phallic) then climbed up to the moor and found a new path which i got far too excited about, but then i am quite sad. Should probably have done something more intense but decided to play it safe.

A later night than usual on tuesday caught up with me and i felt proper rubbish all day. Just did some weights and went to bed in the evening.

Wednesday Jun 4

running 1:05:00 [3]
Steady run on the moor. Was really feeling it in my quads. Think it was the final descent off Parlick yesterday where it drops 200metres of height in about 0.5km that did for them.

Tuesday Jun 3

running 30:00 [3]
Warm up/down
running 32:00 [5]
Paddy's Pole fell race. Hopped across the border and was greeted by glorious blue skies and sunshine, but then the weather is never anything but nice in Lancashire. Thought id try another fast start and see where that got me. It got me in the lead till the top of the road when i slowed to let Mark and Sean past cos i didnt know where i was going. Climbing Parlick i took a less than optimum route and reached the ridge in about 10th. Ground it out along the uphill ridge and got a few people. Overtook 5th place on the glorious descent to Saint Nicks chair, pulled out some time over him on the uphill after that and held him off into the finish to make it top 5 places all going to Bowland.
