Orienteering race 1:08:37 [4] **** 7.1 km (9:40 / km)

Warwick City Orienteering Race. Was still drunk when starting the race, which gradually wore off into a hangover. Excellent course and good fun as well! Made a few small errors, especially the classic one where the control was on the other side of the fence. If I hadnt drunk anything the night before I should have managed sub 60 mins no problems.

Last time I drink before good races. This includes BUSA Relays!

Road Running warm up/down 14:30 [2] 2.0 mi (7:15 / mi)

Running part of the way to Chorlton Water Park and then jogging bits of the course.

Cross Country race 27:24 [5] 4.2 mi (6:31 / mi)

The University of Manchester Cross Country Relays. Two legs of 2.1 miles.

Time for the first leg (2nd runner for C team) was 13:29, time for second leg (5th runner for B team) was 13:55. Disappointed times as it felt so hard with very little to force a change of pace, except weaving in and out of trees on an embankment. Normally my second run is faster (hence B team leg being second run), but I just couldnt seem to muster the strength to pick up the pace.

This was my first time in the B team so a very proud moment as I helped Uni of Manchester B to gain points in the Uni Relay Series.

Note
(sick)

Went and got completely plastered at post race party. Remember very little of the night except doing beer races with lager. Very, very dumb idea as I had a 6am wake up call for the Warwick City race....

Cycling 20:00 [3]

Would have been more had I not broken my brake cable later in the day :(

Road Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Running to and from Armitage centre

SAQ 50:00 [2]

Leading SAQ session. Once again a low attendance (2 people). If it is this bad again then SPORT will axe the session and I get to spend 30 mins more per day in the labs!

Cycling 40:00 [4]

Tough cycling. Final managed to get the top gears working after a good month and its taking a while to get used to pedalling in those gears!

Orienteering warm up/down 18:27 [3] ** 1.8 km (10:15 / km)

UMOC training. Following an experienced fell runner that seemed to be confused at the symbols and the level of the map. He got the jist of it by the end though!

Orienteering 14:20 [4] ** 3.0 km (4:47 / km)

UMOC training. Whilst others did the same course before me (old Platts fields Sprint-O) I set off last, whilst the new fell runner tried to keep up. Naturally I thought Id see if he could read a map as fast (he surprised himself...).

Not bad course, never run it before (I organised the event so hadnt seen the map). Long (well for a sprint course anyway) leg in the middle was abit tiring but overall it was alright. Not a bad turn out for a training session either and almost recruited two passing girls to join in!

Cycling 20:00 [3]

Easy cycling

Road Running warm up/down 18:45 [3] 2.5 mi (7:30 / mi)

Easy to circuits and then back the long way (with Adam Perry)

Circuits 1:00:00 [4]

Circuits was still crippling, but at least its starting to get back to the way it used to be: easy (if you exclude press ups)
