| Very steady run with Carl from P&B (only 2 who showed up tonight). Quite glad as didn't feel like doing too much. Nice to get over that side of Leeds, will have to start going to club sessions a bit more as i can just about make it in time from work. Lovely route over to Leeds Country Way and through Calverley Wood. | ||

| Lovely race in the Dales, took it hard despite long run yesterday. Thankfully no-one went off particularly hard, although Jess was right behind me as we went onto the fell! Stuck in behind Lee and Ted and stayed with them for a couple of miles when Lee put a bit of an effort in up a steep slope which i couldn't match. The 2 of them gradually pulled away and at the half way mark the 4th place guy had caught me back up. We then stuck together like glue all the way along the track back to the village. I managed to gain a few metres down the last road before turning onto the final straight. Strode out and gained 10 metres which i maintained to the finish. Felt very tough along the track as neither of us were going to let the other get away.

| Nice day for a saunter over the moor. Matt had a good 1st leg bringing us in half a minute down on Gary, i set off steadily and slowly gained time on Shane. Caught him by the top of the climb, but wasn't exactly pushing it. Strided out along the top, and took a while to get going on the descent. 40secs quicker than my PB for this course, not bad considering i'd missed a couple of weeks training. Fantastic pub lunch in The Yard afterwards. | ||

| First time for a couple of years i've actually raced a road race (rather than just pottering round pacing other people). Obviously wasn't too difficult to break my rather shoddy pb of 17.34, but wanted to take at least a minute off it. Got boxed in at the start as not used to running fast, so lost the front group early and got caught in no-man's-land running about 10m behind the first group and 5m in front of the group behind. Fast first and second km, died badly on the third, managed to stride up the big hill in the 4th and push on over the downhill last km. Happy with time, but know i can do faster if i get some racing flats and do some intervals!
Km times 3.08, 3.10, 3.29, 3.37, 3.00 = 16.24 6th place (winner 15.51)

| Starting a race at 3am is not my idea of fun, but i'd always said i'd do the long night leg. Stomach wasn't feeling great, but was ok once i got going. Went out already 50mins down on the leaders, and knew what time Nick had come through the spectator control so thought that would be a good target. Aimed to use attack points as close to controls as possible as i hadn't run at night for a couple of years. Slightly hesitant on the first couple of controls, and about a minute lost at #4. Clean through the next few controls playing it safe by sticking to the paths. A few problems with indisitnct clearing at #8 (crap control to use at night!) and depression at #10. Came through spectator control at about the same time as Nick which gave me some encouragement. Played it safe on the next control, and lost a bit on the next few controls in the circle but was relatively pleased with this hillier part of the course. Finished well, and pleased to get the fastest leg time in front of Mikko (2nd fastest on long night at last year's Jukola!) and Nick. Went back to bed soon after. | ||

| Stomach felt a lot better than it had done all week, but still wasn't 100%. Set off hard and messed up 1st control after not really planning route :( Got into the map after that, with just a few very slight wobbles. A bit of a mistake at #9 after not reading the detail in the circle where Craney caught me up. Tried keeping up with him from there to the finish, just about stayed in touch whilst trying to read the map. Stomach was ok throughout. Time loss = 0.40 | ||
| Orienteering race (JOK Sprint Chase) 23:11 [5]*** 4 km (5:48 / km) +115m 5:04 / km | ||

| Started in 6th place on the Chase, with Nick B 1 sec in front, and Ant and Shep just behind so i knew we would be going round in a pack. Hadn't really geared myself up for this with the pre-race banter in the start area. Went past Nick on the way to #1 and led into #2 where we caught Mike up as well. Messed up #3 by overshooting almost got as far as the path and the pack had got away from me. luckily for me they all messed up the next control and i'd just sprinted after them with no real plan so had no idea where i was when everyone had stopped to faff. Same on #6 as just went with the pack not wanting to lose them and went all the way round the fields which definitely lost us time. Was really struggling to keep up as my chest started to feel really tight, and did all i could to stay in touch around the last loop after the spectator control but i was dying on my ass, so didn't even try and stay with them when we got near the end as i was hurting too much. Good practice of head-to-head racing though. Time loss = 1.20 | ||

| Love doing this race, so despite the fact that i was ill decided to give it a go after warming-up and having no adverse reaction. Plus i wanted to try out my different route to the last CP. Went off hard just behind Graham and settled into a rhythm just behind the lead group. Chris and Andy gradually pulled away so by the top of the 1st climb they had a quite a lead, with Graham and Tom together, then me and Matt battling it out. It stayed like this till we got to Cowper's Cross where the field split. I stayed the way i knew and pulled time out of the people in front of me. Greg (course record-holder) went with me so was pretty certain i got the right route. Stomach really started to hurt along the top to the cairn, but the quickest way back was pretty much doing the race route, so just ran through it. Got to the penultimate CP then turned back on myself to try my new route out. Had i been feeling good it would have definitely been quicker, but i wasn't so i didn't gain anything. What was good was that i came out in exactly the same place i'd been in. Got to the last CP in 8th, and decided that i needed to finish as soon as possible to let my stomach recover so sprinted past the 3 guys in my sights with some manic descending. Almost caught Greg as well.
Probably shouldn't have run considering the state i was in, but i'm stupid, what can i say... Results http://www.jackbloor.co.uk/index.php?p=results&yea...

| Was such a nice day i didn't feel like sitting inside all day, even though i had taken the day off work due to illness. Did a topless lap of Becketts with Niall, taking in the rather pleasant sunbathers. Quite a bit faster than i normally run this route with Mick but still felt alright, though stomach wasn't agreeing completely. Was gonna go for a ride later, but probably best to let illness settle down as racing Tuesday and Wednesday. | ||

| Grrr, stomach really hampered my chances of a decent run on my first Yorkshire appearace. Didn't feel great going up, but at least my legs felt good. Really struggled on descent as it felt i was gonna hurl again :( Not good, rather disappointing to feel like this after some good training.
I think it might have had something to do with the heat, rather than bbq the night before as no-one else there was ill. Going to start drinking a lot more than usual to try and stay hydrated to see if that helps.

| Reccie of Jack Bloor fell race on Ilkley Moor with Greg, Bircho, Nokia, Rod, Niall, Jenga and Sorrel. Tried a few new routes out as there was 8 of us out so was a good opportunity to see if they were any quicker. I reckon the bit at the start might save 10 secs, but i have a cunning plan for the last checkpoint. Will have to wait and see if i pull it off. Great day for running on the moor, just shorts and vest at 8.30, cracking! :) | ||

| First 5km road race for a couple of year's, but didn't want to go too hard as hadn't done anything fast since 3 Peaks so just paced Sarah and Emily round instead. Felt pretty comfortable, although i was only 32 secs off my own pb! Both girls broke pb's, though not quite under the 18-min mark, and leading women went sub-17. | Lovely run on Lindisfarne with Jess, Rachel and Sarah. Probably shouldn't have had 2 pints before running, but got to keep up with the challenge. Ran along the road to the causeway, decided that it was too deep to run over, so ran along the beach on the way back. Ran over the dunes to finish with which was awesome. Silly hill rep with Rach who decided to race to the top of the biggest dune on the island. Rather a lot of sand in my shoes :( Fab day out :) | ||
