Saturday Jul 5

Running 48:00 [3]5.5 mi (8:43 / mi) +160m 4:58 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Harrier
Run with Jess through Yeadon and down to Esholt Woods. Rather wet day, but nice to get out in the morning before heading down to Lisa and Manuel's wedding.

Friday Jul 4

Running 2:02:00 [3]17.0 mi (7:11 / mi) +410m 4:09 / km
shoes: Brooks Infiniti
Long run after work. Trying out some High5 energy drink so stopping every 15 mins to have some of this, and to check the route. Shat myself (not literally in case you were wondering) when i ran through a field of horses, and one of them started trotting over and tried pushing me over. I've been told it was trying to be friendly, but i'm rather doubtful. Felt good throughout.
Running 25:00 [3]3.1 mi (8:04 / mi) +70m 4:41 / km
shoes: Brooks Infiniti
Run to work in the morning, legs felt fine after yesterday's session.

Thursday Jul 3

Running hills 48:00 [4]+170m
shoes: Brooks Infiniti
Hill session with Jess in Gotts Park. Ran along the canal for a warm-up, then did a fartlek session, doing efforts up every hill, some long, some sprints, then run back along the canal. Good first session back.

Wednesday Jul 2

Fell running race (Danefield Relay) 19:11 [5]3.0 mi (6:23 / mi) +140m 3:28 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Harrier
Little fell relay on the Chevin. Ran in team with Jess and Matt. Went off in 4th place, 1 min behind the next team and finally caught them on the last big hill for 3rd team :) Found it hard, especially on the gradual ascents on the fire roads.
Fell running warm up/down 54:00 [3]5.5 mi (9:49 / mi) +200m 5:29 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Harrier
Long warm-up (35) watching Jess throughout the race, followed by an easy cool down (19).

Tuesday Jul 1

Running 1:17:00 [3]11.5 mi (6:42 / mi) +165m 3:59 / km
shoes: Brooks Infiniti
Run home from work via Wortley and Rodley and back along the canal, with 2-mile tempo towards the end along the canal in 6.10, 6.01.
Road cycling 16:00 [3]+45m
Cycle to work in high cadence

Monday Jun 30

Road cycling 1:00:00 [3]+150m
Cycle to work, high cadence. Then cycled home along Meanwood Ridge while Jess ran.

Sunday Jun 29

MTBO race (British Middle Champs) 1:32:00 [5]
Had to hire a bike as my one wouldn't have got round another day, and wish i hadn't bothered. Was riding well the first few controls before i got a puncture. Normally this is just a minor hindrance, but i'd left my pump in the car. I changed the tube and waited for someone to pass by. Thankfully Andy W came by a few mins later and very kindly gave me his pump. However, a number of problems with the tube/tyre meant i'd lost 15 mins by the time i got going again!
Hammered it from there for about 5 more mins, Bruce almost catching me, before the chain came off. Not a problem, i'll put it back on. Got about 20 metres and it came off again. Useless hire bike. Made a few adjustments, still no good. Made a few more adjustments, still no good. Getting quite agitated by this point. After 5 mins of faffing and no improvement i just resigned myself to the fact that i probably wasn't going to win, so just rode on with only a middle chain ring. Race got better after that, but too much time lost to make an impact on the results.
Lovely riding again, another would definitely come back to.

Bit of a poor weekend results-wise, but some fantastic mountain biking.
