Leeds Mercury reliability ride, Otley-Wetherby-Boroughbridge-Knaresborough-Ripley-Norwood Edge-Otley. Started off a bit too eager and taking turns on the front of the fast group alongside Scott Thwaites and Ali Brownlee. Paid the price as the pace ramped up to Kirkby Overblow and I lost contact. Got caught by group 2 and did my turns throughout. Started picking up those who got dropped by the front group so by the time we were heading up beside the A1 it was a group of about 25 riders. Pace quickened, and I got dropped on the run-in to Ripley, but put in a monster effort for 5 mins to get back onto the group. Tough to keep with the group to Harrogate, but turned out that the Nova lads were turning off back to Harrogate with only 4 of us left heading to Norwood. I started to struggle again and got dropped again near the end of Penny Pot, but had enough energy to make it back to the clubhouse only a few mins behind the group. Only 6 made it back on the front group, one of the faster reliabilities this year.

Good ride up to Blubberhouses and back via Langbar and Cow & Calf, putting in a decent effort up each of the main hills. Managed to get up C&C in the big ring (although on a compact 50t), but legs suffered afterwards.

Working in Darlington meant I got to head up to Hamsterley. Had only ever done an MTBO race there so didn't really know where I was going, but managed to link up a few trails and managed to find most of the red route. Good fun, even in the dark, but definitely one to go back to find more trails.
