Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]
Orienteering race (JVM test medel) 34:27 [4]
Went out to take it slow and accurate. Pick up the map, oh shit this is detailed, almost overmapped I think. Overshot 1 but kept my head and relocated, then ran the rest at a pace I could navigate. On 7 my I couldnt get through some cliffs on my planned route so just drifted untill I relocated and got it. So lost time on those 2 controls. Otherwise happy and pretty stoked with my result. I wouldve made the Danish team today!! Still a long way off the swedish one though.

Friday May 16

Run warm up/down 20:00 [3]
Orienteering race (JVM test sprint) 15:08 [4]
A very easy sprint. All around buildings. Lots of route choice though, I havnt done any sprints in a while and īmade some bad decisions, lots of wiggling instead of taking left or right route. Not much other time lost, so resonably happy. Maybe an indicartion that the JWOC sprint isnt going to go into the forest on the map that much...

Thursday May 15

Mountain Biking 35:00 [3]
Riding to and from training. On the way there all on roads, but cruised home through the forest on small tracks. Good fun

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
Peter offered to follow me around tonight and give me some coaching. Its always hard having someone follow you but i reckon its the best training you can get (especially when its a good swedish coach). Ran well, missed 2 and 3 both by about 20m. Peter saw them but I didnt.

Funny the main things he picked up on were - I need to look around more, and be more confident. Funny, someone else has said both those things to me before! Lots of other good advice too.

Wednesday May 14

Sunday May 11

Orienteering race (J-cup middle) 42:00 [5]
Nicer terrain today. Ok 1 and 2. Missed 3 big time. Needed to realise it was going to be a difficult control, and get my direction into the control completely fixed. Should have got out of the area to relocate more quickly too. The rest of the course was good, smooth and had a very focused mental approach. The last few I was in the zone, I knew the controls were going to be there before I saw them.

Very happy with this weekend, even though the results weren't good, I feel like I can orienteer now, I know how to do it, now all I have to do is practise.
