Orienteering race 2:30:24 [3]*** 8.3 km (18:07 / km)
spiked:23/23c
The season Orienteering start! And my first national level meet in Finland for three years, actually for almost four years. It was raining, blowing and the temperature was mid-30's. So, the perfect weather for orienteering :-D

The terrain was full of rocky hills, very different compered to the US and Austria. And the weather made it even slower: the best in my H35 class used 8.5 min/km and even in the elit class the winner ran not faster than 7.3 min/km. I noticed that I need to get used back to Finland. I was running too carefully, which made me very slow. Also, I need to focus on very detailed maps compered to the last years. Now, especially when I got tired, made one major mistake just because was not reading all the cliffs and small hills.

One big 10 minutes mistake at control #16 when I had lost my energy and would have needed some sports drink maybe 15 minutes earlier, otherwise not any bad ones, just some minors. In that way I'm quite happy with the race. I was the last one, of course, but somebody needs to be, and I don't worry too much if I'm the last. At least I'm winning everyone who doesn't even show up.
