| The second day of the Suunto Games. Today my class H35A short had 6K's . I didn't start very well, when had a lot of problems in control #1, after that it started to run better, some minor mistakes but no any big problems.
At control #11 my teammate Sami passed me. I found #12 nicely and right after the control I saw Sami laying down and one guy was helping him. Sami had twisted his ankle seriously. I stopped there and let the other guy continue his run. Luckily we were close to the gravel road and with the help of another guy, we could carry Sami on the road. This guy ran to the competition center to get some first aid guys there and I stayed with Sami. Nice old ladies on their way to their summer cottage stopped and gave us some ice that helped a lot. After maybe 20 minutes the race first aid man came and took Sami to the first aid.
I continued my run, there was just the last K, I missed maybe 25 minutes altogether. It was really difficult to get back to the orienteering after that both mentally and physically. I'm happy that last controls were easy and terrain also. Without the accident I could have beaten 1:30. |
