Orienteering race 12:37 [4] 3.4 km (3:43 / km)
shoes: NB Prism

NZ QB3 - Awatapu College
Chaos sprint. People everywhere. Pretty good course given the small area but I was just too concerned about it being slippery and colliding with people. Also got thrown by the unmapped uncrossable fence just before the map flip as I didn't see the gate which was shut (but had been and could be opened).

Orienteering race 10:18 [5] 2.65 km (3:53 / km)
shoes: NB1260

NZ QB3 Sprint Relay - IPC
Fun race. Started a little down on second leg so went out chasing a bunch of NZ senior schools kids. Tommy Hayes went flying past on the way to #1 but then disappeared on a different fork. Came out ahead of him anyway for the common section and tried to get past all the schools kids on the forest section. Got Gene in sight for the second half and tried to get to him to give Brodie someone to run with but couldn't quite get there.

Orienteering race 1:14:33 [4] 11.25 km (6:38 / km)
shoes: Oroc's

NZ QB3 Day 1 - Whirokino
A day of equipment issues. Noticed at control 6 that my SI wasn't actually punching on the units. Up until then had been hearing the SI air beep as I punched (SI air was supposed to be off on the units) but not actually looking, whereas at 6 I didn't flow well so actually saw it not working. Figured I should actually get a result as it was Bushrangers so returned to the start to try clear/check/SI off again from which point it seemed to work fine. Oh well. Re-ran the first loop and then continued on my way. Also annoyingly my lace tape lasted about 5 minutes so was constantly retying laces.

Actually had quite a solid run from that point on, moving reasonably ok despite the junky forest. Had a couple of small time losses when we came back into the green stripe from 20-22 from getting pushed around but other than that quite clean.

Looking at it on gps it was around 11min lost for my SI problem (difference in my time between the first and second times I was at #6) so would have been competitive with the NZ guys.
