Fell Race 1:14:16 [4] 7.96 mi (9:20 / mi) +1089m 6:33 / mi

FRA relays.

We wanted this one but knew that HBT and Shettleston were the obvious threats. Little Rob had his usual excellent 1st leg to come in 30 secs down on Joe Symonds (Shettleston), which was pretty much perfect. Lucky that Poo Boy was caught up in kit check which cost HBT some time. Jonesy was kinder than the Hodgsons and let me pace set on the flat. Managed to slip crossing the bridge and bruised my arm and knocked the marshal into the bush. Whoops.

Hit a good pace on the climb and just hung on to Jonesy the whole way up. Fastest climb by quite a bit. Got away slightly into the mist and go round the next few CPs with little drama, a slight corner cut to 3 causing shortlived concentration. Called an easy descent to save the legs and hit the CP cleanly and immediately gave up on trying to run! Eating heather the whole way up and Kris getting a small gap. Had to have a word with myself about a sprint orienteer beating me up a hill ;) Got the fastest climb again though, Teams behind looking close but the gradient is not helpful.

Battered the downhill for 2nd fastest descent behind Keswick flyers. Under two minute lead but enough. Job done.

Neil and Elk handled the pressure and conditions very well to extend the lead and give Jonny a 4 miuteish buffer. Home and 'dry'.

Grand slam, very pleased.

Crackin booze up afterwards. Well done lads! 8 medals in 7 years! Think me and Rob been in every team for the last 7 years of medals. Rob must have a right haul, he's been doing this much longer.
