Orienteering 1:13:39 [3] 6.5 km (11:20 / km) +250m 9:30 / km

Harvester

Requested 1st leg for the craic. Was requested to do long night last minute but with this lung infection thing I said no. Felt it was too late to drop out on them so made this my last run until the lungs are totally recovered.

Long gaffled first leg, lost track of my position due to bracken confusion. Lost a little time working out my position then dropped into the control alone. Tried to take the next one slowly and nail it, knowing I'd be away alone. But, somehow, I fucked it completely and lost c.10 minutes. Ended up way too low, and couldn't even find my way back to number 1. Ha, awful.

Eventually got the sod, and thought that was probably that, time to just limit the damage. But to my surprise, I was on the back of Llewelyn and EUOC's Leitch at 3 - turns out we're all useless. Concentrating now, 4,5,6 all steady. Avoid cows. Drop EUOC as he follows us to 6, and its not his gaffle. Bye-bye. (Apparently he lost his compass before this. Ouch.)

Rest of the course is with Llewellyn, some small misses. He calls me into a control that I'm missing, so I return the favour later on. Bracken is a right bastard. Put the boot in round the open area at the end to finish in the lead. This is purely down to Dave Godfree fucking a 10 minute lead but it's been that kind of night! Great, no prisoners taken night O.

Loved every minute of it.
