12 PM

Orienteering 1:05:32 [3] 8.96 km (7:19 / km) +544m 5:37 / km

Galoppen at Newton Fell. Actually quite a decent area, tough and technical due to the large amount of unmapped paths ha.

Steady start, but major bumbling into 4, classic long downhill leg where I lost my exact position so instead of investing time in pinpointing it, I guessed and bumbled into it slowly. Lost a contact lense on way to 5 and spent a minute sorting that. Slowly getting myselg into the map, lost a minute on 13 stodd on the wrong crag and being uable to see the correct one next to me (it was tiny!).

After this I was pretty good, slowing down int he right places and was clean.

Well clear despite losing at least 4 minutes out there. Tough course.

Note
(rest day)

Whoops, 5 pints last night left me feeling rotten so I missed out running for ice cream and walking at Rannerdale with the lass. Nice.

Running 49:12 [2] 5.52 mi (8:55 / mi) +317m 7:34 / mi

Tired float along the line and up onto Latrigg to check out the deforestation.

5 PM

Running 57:35 [2] 7.45 mi (7:44 / mi) +307m 6:51 / mi

Over Walla and back along lake via box. Lovely evening, had the foot down for most of it. Saw a peregrine, two mergansers and a Becca.

Orienteering 30:07 [3] 4.88 km (6:11 / km) +126m 5:28 / km

Warrior 60 minute Score. Bishops Wood. Lovely area.

Long day on site, long drive to get there for the latest possible start, no warm up, straight off in the cold rain that was pouring.

Ran and orienteered pretty well bar a miss on 1 from 2 when the unmarked veg boundary threw me. Finished a couple of seconds down on Elkington. Blast.

Tuesday May 8 #

11 AM

Running 2:03:17 [2] 10.49 mi (11:45 / mi) +1106m 8:51 / mi

Honister to End section of the Buttermere Horseshoe. Weather came in, so ran from knowledge and memory as I'd gone a bit cowboy.

Saw a group of 4 waders between High Stile and Red Pike. I'm thinking Dotterel but was too cold/misty to stop and stare

Monday May 7 #

7 PM

Running 33:41 [2] 4.48 mi (7:31 / mi) +51m 7:16 / mi

Evening lope along the railway once it was cool enough to exist, post travel. Felt surprisingly light and easy.
