Orienteering 34:51 [3] 4.97 km (7:00 / km) +89m 6:26 / km

Second of the Warrior Battleaxe series. Showdown with The Elk after he beat me by a few seconds last week. Nice new area - Sunnythwaite and Esthwaite Intake.

Stable run, pleased with it. One or two hesitations when it didnt quite fit but nothing major. Took a couple of minutes out of Matt to win the famous Battleaxe trophy.

All the greats have won this one - Ed Nash, Brendan Bolland, Mike McIver, Jack Wright....

Just looked at BOC maps, distances etc - looks like a proper classic, bloody ace. 29 controls in 14km, YES! Might actually get some long legs. Just need to find that 3rd relay runner now FOUND ONE

Latirgg race route. Swallowed a large fly and choked most of the way.

Orienteering 1:05:32 [3] 8.96 km (7:19 / km) +544m 5:37 / km

Galoppen at Newton Fell. Actually quite a decent area, tough and technical due to the large amount of unmapped paths ha.

Steady start, but major bumbling into 4, classic long downhill leg where I lost my exact position so instead of investing time in pinpointing it, I guessed and bumbled into it slowly. Lost a contact lense on way to 5 and spent a minute sorting that. Slowly getting myselg into the map, lost a minute on 13 stodd on the wrong crag and being uable to see the correct one next to me (it was tiny!).

After this I was pretty good, slowing down int he right places and was clean.

Well clear despite losing at least 4 minutes out there. Tough course.

Whoops, 5 pints last night left me feeling rotten so I missed out running for ice cream and walking at Rannerdale with the lass. Nice.

Over Walla and back along lake via box. Lovely evening, had the foot down for most of it. Saw a peregrine, two mergansers and a Becca.
