Fell Race 44:56 [4] 4.24 mi (10:36 / mi) +759m 6:49 / mi

Cautley Horseshoe

Turned out the map they put online as the 'route' was pretty misleading. First climb was the steep way! Struggling to run a high speed on the run out, but bided my time and put the work in on the climb to pull through from outside the top ten to 4th by the summit, Jebby a minute clear of me, and Lamby and Dan Haworth just ahead, and Mounsey right up my jacksee, with a stream of guys close behind.

Slightly dodgy descent line but moving ok, saving my sauce, and when Ben was minving on the traverse I moved past on the steps and closed down Dan and Lamby, moved well along here.

Still going strong out of the sheepfold, moved straight through Lamby and Dan into 2nd and pushed the climb to try and close down Jebby (40 seconds ahead at sheepfold). Summited 27 seconds behind Jebby, small ten second gap behind (Got the fastest split here by 11 seconds).

Pushed the start of the descent, could use Jebby as a guide in the distance. Was clsing him down but lost my focus a bit and couldn't sustain a high gear in the middle third of the drop, so Elk and then Lamby went past. In hindsight I should've dug deeper to go with them as they ended sitting up behind Jebby until they could see the gate - I shoulve got into the group.

As it was, I didn't manage to close the gap to Jebby, and Elk and Lamby had a sprint finish for the win (Lamby won). I finished 10 seconds behind Jebby, and 37 seconds behind Lamby. Survived the river crossing.

4th

Not very happy with my race pace descending still, need to find that gear. Was still about 10th on the split to the finish but its costing me places at the sharp end.

Still, probably my best run of the year and matched my short race PB placings wise (though missing a few hitters today). Really good route, one of the best short races I've done.

Post work trot round cautley. Good route, good mix.

Took a picture of the route map on my phone but let’s just say the lines between cps were suboptimal, and judging by where there were flags tonight - the cps aren’t where they say they are!

Therefore we’ll worrh the recce!

Running 18:41 [2] 2.24 mi (8:20 / mi) +53m 7:46 / mi

Post-work Decided spur of the moment to do KAC session. First time in a long time. Dave Troman is setting the sessions now.

Warm u to far end of the line

Running 4:11 [3] 0.74 mi (5:38 / mi) +11m 5:23 / mi

Running 6:00 [3] 1.1 mi (5:27 / mi) +10m 5:19 / mi

Running 10:01 [3] 1.8 mi (5:34 / mi) +12m 5:28 / mi

Running 8:02 [3] 1.49 mi (5:23 / mi) +10m 5:17 / mi

So, it was 4,6,8 and 10 minute reps - turning halfway to run back up the line, making the second half a little tougher.

Tracking Lamby for all, working hard but hit my markers consistently.

Running 18:01 [2] 2.24 mi (8:03 / mi)

Trot home.
