S&C (Attack of the Alex Round4) 25:00 [1]
slept:9.0 weight:112lbs (injured)

Alex had a good play with the wankles. Left one should be fine for running as long as I do all the exercises. Luckily the freezing weather kept them both iced and it turns out I didn't re-tear anything or cause extra bleeding so some very painful manipulation and frictioning later he blitzed it with the ultrasound, laughed at my pathetic attempts to balance (lost of a lot of strength on them - can't do my calf raises) and said I could jog home if I really wanted :)

Going back on Thursday for a last blitz and progress check before I head back to Sheffield. May need to come back the Thursday after before British Mids and Sprints. Not sure if I'm gonna run mids but I should be ok for the sprints. *fingers crossed*

Running warm up/down 16:00 [1]
(injured) shoes: Kalenji CS2s

Jog back from physio. Felt fine, just really had to watch where my feet were going.

Finally feeling a bit better about life in general, going to stick to my bike/spinner for the next couple of weeks though.

Big apologies to anyone who got in the way of my boo at the weekend. The death pills are really starting to mess with my head so please can people keep an eye on me!

S&C (Ankles) 10:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Kalenji CS2s

Calf raises on the step to get full range and some general one leggy balancing.

Note
slept:6.0

Rubbish sleep. Then many hours standing around at the relays taking pictures and being shuoc cheerleader. If only I'd remembered my pompoms.

(ankles quite sore by the end of the day, happy to get into the car and stick them up)

Orienteering (String course) 15:00 [1] * 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
spiked:19/20c (injured) shoes: Kalenji CS2s

Being dogsbody today so walked down to the start, picked up shuoc coats, then as I was about to leave Steph came in with a twisted ankle, so Ali and I carried her back up the ambulance man then Little Trouble was getting impatient with my promise to take him round the string so very very slowly jogged behind him on the string and then round the offstring after a quick loo break.

(we went past one of the off string! ooh tricksy it was...)

Note

Walked around Brighton for ages afterwards with the familio. Got some Rock :) Had the nicest tomato soup ever.

Note

In a MASSIVE boo. Finding it really hard to be at all positive about it because as usual I have no support whatsoever and the death pills are just eating away at it. Rubbish.

(feeling a bit better now)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured) shoes: Swoops

Up t'start and around when I got there cos it was naffing Freeezing. Feet really hurt from the taping being so tight but I was (mistakenly) quite confident they couldn't go anywhere.

Orienteering race (JK Middle - Leith Hill) 24:53 [5] ***
spiked:4/8c (injured) shoes: Swoops

The part I actually ran. Slow start, getting back into a real scale map took me a while. Had a nice flow 1-2-3 then didn't slow down enough into 4, hit 5 fine, then lost it on 6-7, came out of 8 and wrecked ankle. 8 seemed to be the last control involving any thought on the course so I'm quite sure I could have picked up the time in the rest of it.

Again wasn't in the right head space - was too wary of ankles and the pain they were causing me at the start. Shouldn't have run. End of.

Orienteering long (Trek back from 8) 59:35 [2] **
spiked:10/10c (injured) shoes: Swoops

As the controls were on the long trek back pretty much, I was determined to finish the course. It is ridiculously easy when you can barely go faster than a crawl. Unfortunately being out for so long in the hail in not very many clothes made my brain forget there was a 14 in between 13-15. So mp-ed anyway.

S&C 15:00 [1]

ankle balancing and some calf raising. Ankle v sore.

Event: JK 2008

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
slept:8.0 (injured) shoes: Kalenji CS2s

Joggin around the field before run. It was a bit chilly...

Orienteering race 22:38 [5] *** 2.4 km (9:26 / km) +55m 8:28 / km
17c (injured) shoes: Kalenji CS2s

JK Sprints

Having arrived so early only just got to the start on time. Mum'd told me I was 08, I was actually 02 so legged it over grabbed my number and got called up. Head was not in the right space at all, but I managed to hold it together for the first 5. It all went to pot on 6 though. Then it was okish for the rest, I knew I'd lost it all and then at 13 went over on L ankle. It hurt a lot but not as bad as the R one. Hopefully will be ok.

S&C 10:00 [1]

Some ankle balancing and testing how bad the left one felt. Bit tweaky and quite sore - probably from the cold though.

S&C (WibbleWobbleYumYum) 10:00 [1]
slept:8.5 (rest day)

Nice sleep in, wierd being back at home in my silly soft bed. Back aches a bit from it so will have to do extra physio.

Excited about the JK now, really hope the wankle is going to play nice. Last Attack of the Alex this afternoon...

S&C (Attack of the Alex Round3) 15:00 [0]

Alex had another pummel of the ankle. Hurt a hell of a lot more than last time. Boo. Had a poke of my knee cos I said it was hurty. Patella is tracking a bit laterally hence discomfort. He said it should be fine and do nothing if it's fine while I'm running.

Gave me some sticky bandages to wrap my ankle up in this weekend. Going to have a practice with the bit he stretched out later. Looking ok though, and I feel a lot more confident about running on it now.

Cycling (Spinner) 15:00 [3] 5.0 km (3:00 / km)
(injured)

Running 7:00 [1]

T'pub for some gossip and back from dropping Ruth off.

Wednesday Mar 19, 2008 #

S&C 30:00 [1]
slept:8.0

Morning back work and some wankles

Running (MDOC pootle) 45:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Kalenji off roads

Nice jog along with the oldies. Fair few hills as it was Macclesfield, not really loosened up from circuits yet which is getting deeply annoying. Picked up the pace a little at the end but nice and easy.

Stretching warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Feeling better after loosening up with some leggie stretches at Dave's post-run. Missed out on cake because of it though.
