Tuesday May 29

Road Running (WLIF) 32:09 [3]4.0 mi (8:02 / mi)
Stiff from weekend, but pushed a bit on hill to work on strength.

Monday May 28

Trail Running (Hereford/Gunpowder St Pk) 1:33:00 [4]8.6 mi (10:48 / mi)
Good workout with Balt Road Runners. Some rough sections; rock dancing.

Sunday May 27

O-course Training (Hanging controls) 30:00 [2]2 km (15:00 / km)
Course setter didn't show up, so we all took bags and hung some. One of mine got hung in the wrong reentrant...oops...sorry, guys. Suspected it was off when I backshot a bearing on the way out; however, no time to fix.
O - competition (Fountainhead) 1:25:00 [4]7 km (12:09 / km)
Good course, but a bit tired from yesterday's run. Lost time on one control which was hung in the wrong reentrant, oh well.

Red - Splits

Saturday May 26

Trail Running (Patapsco Avalon) 1:36:00 [3]9.0 mi (10:40 / mi)
Trail run with a crew from the Balt Road Runners Club.
They have several who enjoy running in the woods and have even ventured out for an orienteering meet or two.
Raining and very muddy.

Wednesday May 23

Track workout (Warmup/cooldown/inbetween) 30:00 [3]3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
Track workout (4 x 1/4's) 6:00 [5]1.0 mi (6:00 / mi)
Quarters: 1:32, 1:23, 1:20, 1:19
Felt good to push, but didn't want to wear down today.

Tuesday May 22

O-course Training (Mt Alto, PA) 54:00 [2]3.0 mi (17:59 / mi)
Ran the woods on the southern half of the Mt Alto map.
This has been logged over the past ten years and is
overgrown in many areas. Other parts are still open and
would be nice before the vegetation greens out in the spring.

Sunday May 20

Bicycling (C&O Canal) 1:15:00 [2]11.0 mi (6:48 / mi)
O - competition (Mt Alto -- Red) 1:25:00 [4]5.8 km (14:39 / km)
Good workout -- rocky ground, steep hills, mtn laurel.
Missed one control and had to relocate.
O-course Training (Picked up controls) 40:00 [1]2 km (20:00 / km)

Saturday May 19

Bicycling (Mtn biking on C&O Canal) 2:30:00 [2]18.0 mi (8:20 / mi)
Escorting scout trip; nice section through the Paw-Paw Tunnel.
Trail Running (C&O Canal.) 39:00 [3]4.0 mi (9:45 / mi)
Ran through the Paw-Paw Tunnel and over the top of the ridge on
the way back. Camped nearby.

Thursday May 17

Trail Running (Catoctin Mtn Park) 1:24:00 [3]7.0 mi (11:59 / mi)
Trail and woods run near Camp David. Woods nice and open,
but mostly hilltops with little flat ground.

Wednesday May 16

Trail Running (AT US 40 to 40A (rt)) 1:46:00 [3]10.0 mi (10:35 / mi)
Good section for trail run, not too many rocks on this section.
Goes past the original Washington Monument.
Felt good; 1700' total climb.

Sunday May 13

Road Running (Warm up) 10:00 [2]1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
O - competition (US Champs Green X) 1:01:02 [5]5.46 mi (11:11 / mi)
Ran too hard for this area of map; two serious errors -- 2 min and 5-1/2 min.
Didn't feel in sync with the map today. Should have slowed a bit.

GreenX, Day 2 - Splits

Saturday May 12

Road Running (Warm up) 10:00 [2]1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
O - competition (US Champs Green X) 51:10 [4]5.83 km (8:47 / km)
Smooth run, no problems.

GreenX, Day 1 - Splits

Thursday May 10

Road Running (WLIF) 33:00 [2]4.0 mi (8:15 / mi)
Easy run to stay loose.

Monday May 7

O-course Training (Patapsco Avalon) 1:28:00 [3]8 km (11:00 / km)
Steady running on map. Woods still mostly open.
Some briars beginning to flesh out.

Saturday May 5

O - competition (Scout meet - French Crk) 44:03 [5]4.05 km (10:53 / km)
Pushed hard, good run until end when I skipped a control.
Had to run back down hill on a long leg to get the missing
control, and then back up again. 9 minutes, and a lot of
energy, wasted.

Thursday May 3

Road Running (WLIF) 34:00 [3]4.0 mi (8:30 / mi)
First really hot, muggy weather. Give us back winter!

Tuesday May 1

Trail Running (AT PA) 54:00 [2]5.5 mi (9:49 / mi)
Easy today.
