Saturday Oct 13

Road Running (Chester via PO/rte 11 RT) 58:00 [3]6.0 mi (9:39 / mi)
Cold frost last night. Guess this is finally the end of the vegetables this year -- really late season. Chance of snow tonight down to 1500'.
Hiking (Town Forest) 1:00:00 [1]2.0 mi (29:59 / mi)
Hike around the Lost Mine Trail late afternoon. Very nice until Casey got into some foul organic matter and Ruthie had to clean the gooey stuff out of her mouth.

Friday Oct 12

Trail Running (Daily hill run) 30:00 [3]1.3 mi (23:04 / mi)
Wanted to do a road run, but Casey headed up the hill. Came down by way of the Lumber Road and tossed some cut saplings off to the side. Yanked my R calf doing this and pulled the muscle. Seems better after three part treatment: hot tub at 108F, cold shower, and good chunk of a bottle of wine. See how the results hold up tomorrow.

Thursday Oct 11

Road Running (Cummings Rd +) 29:24 [3]3.0 mi (9:47 / mi)
weight:165lbs
Morning run with Casey. Much faster than Monday, but seemed to take the same effort. Must have been Greg's squash soup for dinner last night.

Tuesday Oct 9

Road Running (Cummings Rd +) 31:30 [3]3.0 mi (10:29 / mi)
Cool and dry this morning, felt good.
12 pullups
Roller skiing (Chester/Vt Country Store) 1:09:40 [4]12.0 mi (5:47 / mi)
Hard workout on just a great route. Rolling, wide shoulders with natural sections to sprint and then recover. Blown over a few times by all those tour buses, but then it's that time of year.
Out 34/back 36

Monday Oct 8

Road Running (Cummings Rd +) 35:00 [3]3.0 mi (11:40 / mi)
Wet, tired from yesterday.
40 crunches

Sunday Oct 7

Trail Running hills (Daily hill run x 4) 55:00 [4]3.0 mi (18:20 / mi)
Much cooler and dryer today (fall weather?), so Casey and I decided to give the hill workout a try.
Warmup 15.20 - up 8.39 / down 6.40
13.39 - 7.54 / 5.45
9.31 new best - 6.23 / 3.08
Cool down 15.00 - 8.11 / 6.50
Probably more than I should have done on my sore knee, but felt pretty good. Tried to run "lightly" even on the fast descent. Soaking afterwards in the hot tub I'm sure was good for it, too.
