10 AM

X-C Skiing warm up/down 12:27 [2] 1.64 km (7:35 / km) +8m 7:24 / km
ahr:95 max:134

X-C Skiing race (WMSkiO Middle) 34:54 [4] 5.74 km (6:04 / km) +110m 5:33 / km
ahr:123 max:160

Best race of the week. More open tracks, no killer drops, lot of just straight skiing. Hard to read the course in places as they’ve been printing the purple under the green trail symbol and it’s hard to follow the line in places.

Was 1 sec back of one racer and 11 behind another so felt okay with that, 14th of 18 for the day.

X-C Skiing 52:35 [3] 6.32 km (8:19 / km) +99m 7:43 / km
ahr:90 max:151

Cool down with Greg. Back over some of the course.

X-C Skiing 5:33 [3] 0.92 km (6:03 / km)

X-C Skiing (Wildmoos) 49:29 [3] 5.02 km (9:51 / km) +164m 8:28 / km
ahr:124 max:154

Ski up to the map area. Supposed to be 3.3 km but they missed it by a lot. Good climb, too. Nice frozen corduroy on wide race quality trail.
12 PM

X-C Skiing race (SkiO Long) 1:19:31 [4] 8.1 km (9:49 / km) +173m 8:52 / km
ahr:139 max:172

Lots of skiing on medium width trails (2 m) and narrower ones (1.5). Many were not groomed well and the down sections were tough. Bailed and ran down a couple chutes of death.

X-C Skiing 24:30 [3] 4.6 km (5:19 / km) +59m 5:00 / km
ahr:113 max:147

Different trail going down. Pretty fast.

X-C Skiing (Leutasch AU) 1:46:36 [3] 21.28 km (5:01 / km) +123m 4:52 / km
ahr:104 max:156

Next valley up towards Germany with Greg, Anna and Anna’s mom. NE to the end of the good snow at Burggrabben and back to Kirchplatzl. Then at an outside cafe for lunch. Beautiful sunny day well above freezing, but on solid snow. Easy flat skiing, fast dp all the way out and skate back against slight climb.

2 PM

X-C Skiing 2:53 [3] 0.19 km (14:56 / km)
ahr:81 max:93

Mini-warm up. Knew I had a long up hill walk to the start, but it wasn’t clear how to get there so I let it go at that.

X-C Skiing race (Seefeld WMSkiO) 28:47 [4] 3.68 km (7:49 / km) +45m 7:22 / km
ahr:141 max:169

SkiO!
Four starters at once, all jamming an oversized map into their holders. Narrow 50 m chute to begin, soft corn snow all scraped off bare rock. Felt a couple deep gouges and took off the skis and ran around a woman who was blocking the trail. Knew I had another steep drop shortly, ran almost to the first control and saw it would be okay. Saddled back up, got the control, skied over to a main trail. But was blinded by the sun right at me and plunged down that hill without seeing a thing.

Map more reasonable after that on main ski trails and bouncing around the flats.

Have to see the splits but sure I lost 5 min to the Finn mob on the first control.

Race was fun as always, but they didn’t have to have the start perched up the side of a steep hill in the woods. Could have had a more reasonable start and then just sent the younger masters on up.

Hiking 1:40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (20:00 / mi) +46m 19:26 / mi
ahr:113 max:151

Walk up to the start and then a second time to get my bag plus the original walk over and back from the apartment.

3 PM

X-C Skiing (Seefeld Austria ) 59:51 [3] 3.41 km (17:32 / km) +54m 16:15 / km
ahr:105 max:137

Playing around on the model map. Good transformed snow on the flats. Thin and icy in the woods with sticks and some dirt. A couple crazy downhills on the ice almost bouncing off the trees. We’ll see about the sprint tomorrow.

Watched some of the World Games jumping and biathlon which are right by the same stadium. Jumping was impressive off the 75 m jump. Biathlon looks interesting, with fairly relaxed skiing by the old guys. Maybe try that in the future.
