Orienteering race 1:11:00 [5]10.5 km (6:46 / km)
ahr:173 max:183
SM relay. I was running 3rd leg for the IFK Lidingo team with Petter Haraldson, Casper Giding and Emil Lauri. Petter got us of to a great start, coming back with the leaders. Casper ran pretty good too, setting me out in 4th place, a long way behind 1st but not far behind 2nd and 3rd (but also with a big group just behind). I started really badly, missing the first control, and struggling a bit for the next couple. By the first radio control, I had dropped about 2 minutes, and down to 9th place. Then I pulled my finger out and started orienteering properly. There was a really long leg to the 5th control and I nailed that. A couple of controls later I could see the pack up to 2nd place, and I managed to catch them all just before the spectator control. I ran to the wrong gaffle, and then had to catch them all again, but after the run through the assmebly field, I had a really good race. Of the pack of roughly 9 or 10 athletes, a couple of us pulled away, and stretched out quite a gap to the others. The last part of the course was really hilly, and accentuated the gaps. At the end I was running with guys from Ulricehamns and IHPK, and although the IHPK guy pulled away at the end, I got a bit of a gap to Ulricehamns and came in in 3rd place.
I handed over the Emil, and at that point we could have ended up anywhere between 2nd (OK Linne were a long way in front) and 20th. Emil didn't have a great day in the office and we finished 8th, about 3 minutes from the medals. Still, my first placing in a Swedish Champs, and my first prize in Sweden.

Orienteering 39:21 [4]6.4 km (6:09 / km)
ahr:172 max:182
SM middle. I couldn't run in the actual race, but I went out immediately after and ran the same course. Had a pretty decent race, made a couple of small mistakes, but my time would have been good enough for about 15th place in the final.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]7 km (7:09 / km)
ahr:151 max:172
Watched SM middle qualifiers ( I couldn't run because of some gay Swedish rules about running enough 'ranking' events which don't include mass start races and sprint races and races before I was 'registered' for the ranking list), then went out to one of the training maps for the SM relay. Unfortunately we only had one map between us, and a black and white photocopy, so gallantly I let Signe take the colour and set out in moderately detailed terrain with the copy. It was pretty fun guessing what the vegetation was going to be like, I could just about make out the dark green, but nothing else, and ditches often turned out to be veg boundaries when I got there.
Only got really confusde once when I found myself in a huge open area and was one reentrant too far away.
Nice forest though, good to do some technical orienteering again.

Trail/terrain running 1:03:00 [3]12 km (5:15 / km)
ahr:127 max:170
Jogged over to Lidingo to put some controls out for junior training this afternoon. Ran back a bit harder, pushing for about 5 minutes at a fast pace.
Quad still noticable but not painful
Strength and conditioning 15:00 [2]
Strength training
Note
Off to SM middle and relay this afternoon, nice long drive over to South West Sweden, and I can't even run the middle distance....

Wednesday Sep 19

Note
I moved to Stockholm today, and I decided that I would start using attackpoint again (at least until I get bored again). Obviously I can't compete with nixon in the interesting post stakes, but at least i will be able to look back and see what i was up to back now / then

Got up pretty early to get my flight, and spent seemingly several hours getting from the airport to my (Linus/Emma's) flat dragging a bag big enough to fit in the entire Dutch national team (and coach).

Anyway, the weather was beautiful, and since I arrived I have precisely gone training, gone shopping and eaten. Now I am going to watch some football, have a beer and go to bed.
Trail/terrain running 1:03:00 [2]12 km (5:15 / km)
ahr:122 max:148
Nice easy run from the flat in Hjorthagen. Running around the LillJansskogen map checking it out (I am planning a 'race' there in a few weeks). I strained my right quad on Saturday at the Austrian Relay champs, and today was my first session since then. It felt good until the last hill back up to the flat, when I started to feel it again. Feels fine now though. Hopefully will be ok for the competitions this weekend
Strength and conditioning 15:00 [2]
Strength training and specific exercises from physio including abs, upper body and back exercises
