| Orienteering Race 34:09 [4] 4.5 km (7:35 / km) | ||
| shoes: Inov 8 Mudclaw 'O' 330 | ||
| JHI Relay. Despite coming 2nd M18 yesterday I was relegated to the 3rd team like I did at the Jircs. This meant I was in the mass start, designed so that we didnt have to wait hours for all the Irish teams to finish. Ran pretty pish and messed up a it aswell but was on my own the whole way round.
I nearly vomited when 3 england teams came in from M14 leg 2 all together way ahead. Pretty good spectator event with the start and finish inside some old castle walls and views across the area from the ramparts.

| JHI Individual in M18, ran well in the easy stuff and stayed in contention but was shit in the high rocky stuff caught both Welsh geezers but was caught by an English Guy. Came 8th I think, not bad as I only turned 16 last week and was against 18 year olds. | ||

| leaving for NI today flying from Glasgow. Did some final geeking, read the details, looked at photos from the area and tied to mach them up with the map. This didnt work but I got a bit of a feel for what the features looked like on the map. Went on routegadget to see some similar Irish maps, there werent any. | ||

Wednesday Sep 26 | ||
| Orienteering Technique 27:00 [2] 3 km (9:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Inov 8 Mudclaw 'O' 330 | ||
| ESOC club training at Corstorphine Hill. First Night O of the year and a chance to try out my new Retina Scorching 20W Silva Bad Boy.
We did one 1500m loop twice, 1st time focussing on navigation 2nd time on running well in terrain. 15mins and 12mins taken I think. Didnt run fast at all as ive got 8.5km and 350m climb on Saturday in the individual.
Tuesday Sep 25 | ||
| Hill/Road Run 28:30 [5] 4 km (7:08 / km) +250m 5:26 / km | ||
| max:179 shoes: Saucony Grid Omni 5 Moderate | ||
| top of seat and back pushed hard, felt very astmatic and tired after only a minute or 2 past Dunsapie, struggled to maintain pace back down Duddingston Road. Need to improve by Weekend. It wasnt helped by having detention in Physics and my teacher not giving me enough time to get lunch, so I was starving all afternoon meaning I felt rubbish seavening.

| Had a look at the maps for JHIs, Individual looks a beast if on the open hill althogh they say in the details full leg cover so at least part of the course will be in the tamer looking forest at the bottom of the hill. Im running M18 and am starting near the end with way the best Irish guy 4 mins after me, so when he catches me hopefully I can tag along for a few controls.
Relay area is a park with lots of open land, so probs very fast, which plays into my hands a lot, as the only way i would get very dropped would be on a steep moor where I cant get much leg speed going, so im aiming for a good run there. Neither area looks *very* technical which should play into my hands a bit. We'll just have to wait and see.
