trail running race (Mountain Massocist 50 mil) 4:00:00 [5] 27.0 mi (8:53 / mi)

I learned a very very good lesson this past weekend while attempting to run Mountain Massocist 50 mile trail run in Virginia. This lesson being don't try and run a race with pneumonia. I thought that maybe a could tough it out and would just have to suffer through breathing quicker do to only having one functioning lung. This idea lasted until about mile 22 when my body decided to reject the idea of running forcing me to walk/shuffle the 5 miles to the half way aid station where I abandoned the race. It felt so good to stop, I was completely exhausted.
So I have now decided that I should take some time off to heal. I got an xray and stuff while I was at work today. Turns out that I have viral pneumonia. Thankfully this is the end of the season, a great season at that.
