Orienteering race 1:21:00 [4]
British Champs - Culbin
And so the day arrived. Collected Andy, Andy and Jase from Inverness airport and got to event all OK. a rushed no 2 at the start but other than that a good start to the race - got into my stride pretty quickly and caught Paul Whiston 2 mins by no 3. I was going too fast with him on the long leg after that and missed the next - Paul helped me get on track and I returned the help for another 6 controls before I dropped him (outnavigated I think). I didn't feel special today - but the o went pretty well (other than a wander on a long leg later on) and I ran as hard as I could (I think). I couldn't have beaten Andy Simpson's time so am happy with the 2nd or 3rd position I got. I was a bit disappointed the course wasn't as technical as it could have been - but still a great day compared to the rest of the boring crap an average British Orienteer has to put up with.
