Not sure about how the calf would cope here, but it looked like it would be soft underfoot and should be OK. And so it was. I got off to a good start and round the first 4 pushing strong. Decide a route right of the line to 5 and lost the plot as soon as I'd travelled about halfway across the leg. Thankfully keeping my bearing and head up helped me relocate OK (SW of the control) but lost over a minute here. The only other mistake was to no8 were I was actually navigating to 18 to 17 for a while until I realised nothing was really fitting, by which point I was 50m too high and 100m too right and had to correct. Had I not been a tool at these too I might have challenged for a win but to be honest it wasn't my terrain - I was a bit too tentative with the calf and not as fit as the rest on the climbs (I know that). But, I can navigate and run downhill! AS shown by winning 15 to 18 :-)
Brad far too close behind for comfort - that man has found great form!
