Fell Race 4:37:58 [4] 42.89 km (6:29 / km) +645m 6:02 / km

The Llarig Ghru race Braemar to Aviemore police stations.
Left home at 7:30am slightly sleep deprived but the drive
over Glenshee some woke me up. Not much warming up, plenty of familiar faces to catch up with. Started reasonably back as I heard the road runners took it out fast. Settled in at 5:15s chatting with Zoe H and Hazel W. This was a good distraction and we were at Mar Lodge before I knew it. We broke up at Derry where Zoe kept going (strong!) and I went for a pee and got water. Loved it from then on..lots of rough path running and rick hopping. Sadly a big shower had come through and the big rock on the top were quite treacherous (Murray missed this). I stumbled a few times but managed to save myself. Sadly, one of these stumbles eventually turned to cramp in my inner thigh to groin when entering Rothiemurchus and I had to stop on two occasions. Thereafter I was reduced to a shuffle and had growing hip flexor pain. Stuck it out to the end but was a right sight and glad to finish. It's funny how everyone runs down the high street at the end when there's a perfectly good underpass that pops right out at the police station. Got 2 places knowing this! Bucket list - tick.

Run 21:00 [2]

Twinged my left calf mowing the back lawn last night (failed to stretch post orienteering). Hobbling this morning. Went for a jog to see if it was a game-changer. Thankfully, it appears to be superficial (but will need managing) and I only felt it on the steeper inclines. I'll be fine. Stretching after.

Orienteering race 35:43 [4] 5.0 km (7:09 / km)

FVO WEE at Tulliallan planned by Fraser.
Fab wee course taking in the police grounds and better bits of the wood. Ran hard, loved it. Felt quite fit (no surprise). A few wobbles and some shoelace tying - can't wait to get back to o when I'm unbroken from Sunday.
