| Went out with dad, running a reasonable pace but was stopping every now and again to negotiate the many obstacles on the tracks now. Way back was felt much faster ( minimal breaks, cept for when i died) and again i struggled from the last 3k feeling weak and breathing extraordinarily heavily. HR was 190 just running from the water tower to Turnbull. Possibly body is still trying to get over sickness. Hope this feeling stops soon... |

Really tired from a long week and the disco the night before. Wasn't really in the mood for a 7km relay. One watercourse too far to the right on the 1st one and after this the first loop was simple. Dodgy route choice out of spectator control that involved a lot of climb and struggled to decide which way to go on the long leg, spending lots of time deciding and changing my mind a bit into the leg, i opted for the straight but chronically steep option (figured that you would get climb anyway you went and my running wouldn't be strong enough gain any time by goin the further distance). Hit all of the controls well and felt i ran okay all things considered, still a long way off the pace though. |

So so cold!! Thought i would struggle to get into this race, but started off well and was going okay, hit the long leg and knew my lack of training (ie speed) would cost me and this was compounded by an error in the control circle! Left #14 in slightly the wrong direction and even though i was aware of it, i never managed to fully correct it and this resulted in a big loss of time. slightly off on #16. After this hit the controls well.
Maintaining the theme of the week, my pace was dramatically off and this loss of time was further emphasised through little mistakes. Found that i was really slow running through the rock as well! |

Both Josh and Lloyd did well and i went out in first place. However slightly offput by the strength of other third leg runners, i sorta focused on that more than the course and consequently made silly mistakes on the first loop. Generally navigated well after this with some slight errors in the control circle. Oscar caught me just after #4 and went straight through me on the open. Didn't see him till the second spectator control where he was bout 20secs (according to blair) ahead. Pulled 2mins on me on the final loop though. 2nd team still pretty good. |

Decided to take it easy ahead of relay tomorrow and focus on navigation. After stuffing the 3rd control, really took time out at each control to plan the leg and when approaching control circle slowed down to read finer detail and surprise surprise i actually found the controls! This was quite fun and a much welcome change to how it normally happens. Just have to learn to do this with speed now. |

Started off okay, legs felt a bit heavy. Lost 2mins on long leg with poor route choice going over the hill, instead of choosing the option along the fence to the left. Tricky #9 leg didn't follow any linear features and not enough care taken entering the control and consequently lost time. Then screwed an easy control #14, was expecting to see a thicket of trees instead of pile of logs and when i couldn't see the trees where i thought they should be, i panicked and lost more time. After this it was okay and managed to score a gold medal in the teams (by 10secs) despite a poor individual performance.
Even with mistakes taken out, time was only good enough for a place, which just shows lack of speed, both in running and navigation. |

Couldn't decide whether to run this or not, since i am no good at sprints at the best of times and with no navigation involved with a mass start, considered just going for an easy 30min jog. In the end just decided to take it easy. |

Hadn't really looked ahead for this week and was a but surprised to find i had 10.7km first up. Lost time on the 1st leg which was very long, mainly due to speed and uncertaintity toward the end. After this had a generally clean run, with only a few small mistakes in the control circle and was happy with i felt physically throughout the race, even though this is where i lost major amounts of time on the leaders. |

| After run with jamie headed down to the oval with Kim to the Westlakes Athletics Club "races". First one was a 1500m, went around with Kim at a comfortable pace and then on the last lap pushed it (6.00), then followed up with a 2.4km straight after. Just sat behind this guy, again at a comfortable pace, with the plan to push the last three laps hard, but legs didn't seem to like this idea and consequently only pushed the last lap (10.20). |

Josh = Chronic Unfit! I really struggled again today and thus it was kinda short. Just went explorin round Jes' place, slightly hilly but no reason for the heart rate to be that high! Just very unfit...next week is going to be very loooooooong. |
