Sunday Jun 14

running warm up/down 50:00 [2] 8.5 km (5:53 / km)

Longish warm-up and cool down with Annette and Ines. My legs didn't feel great this morning and I was pretty nervous about running a 5km race. Didn't feel like I had an edge today. Hot too, about 30° C. I like heat, but running fast in it is something I have to get used to.

Some running drills before the race.

Women's 5km race in Bern

Well.. I'm not really happy with this time, but I think I have to accept it. With exam stress and a not-so optimal training year, this is where I am at on a hot day. The course has some gradual uphill for most of the 2nd and 3rd kilometer which slows one down, but the first km is gradually downhill, which should even the score. My goal was to run under 20 minutes.

Spilts are: time (ave HR)
1km: 3:40 (178)
2km: 4:09 (189)
3km: 4:18 (193) mostly uphill
4th: 4:07 (191)
5th: 4:10 (195) nothing left in me :-(

After my exams I will finally start with some high speed stuff, I still have 2 months until WOC, I *will* get faster until then!

On a positive note, it was nice to take a break from studying and it was fun to run something like this again, it's been a while. Even though I am tired now, I like the tired feeling, it's good to know that I worked myself really hard physically!

Running in Bern with Annette and Ines, decided to go to Bern today because I am running a women's 5km road race tomorrow. Went to Annette's for a while to study and watch Venla and then running. Did 3 x 30 second strides to get the legs going a little. It was hot out and talking with the girls made my heart rate higher than normal.

strength 20:00 [1]

Core strength exercises while watching Simone run a good race and win Venla. She's back!

Running after studying for our class "Swiss Law" A L L D A Y ! Lucia came by before going to Marc's parents house and we went running together. It was SO nice to have someone to talk to. Being home alone for 2.5 weeks really sucks, especially if your studying the whole time.

Did run yesterday, worked (at my old work place, helped them out for a day) and that was a lot of fun. After work went out for a beer with my old office mate (trying to forget the fact that I should be studying...) and didn't end up running. Should I be ashamed?

Wednesday Jun 10

running 43:22 [2] 7.3 km (5:56 / km) +180m 5:17 / km

Running during lunch again. Last day of classes! Now I have 10 days time to study before I have to take 11 exams.

Tuesday Jun 9

An easy jog during our lunch break. My stomach is not 100% and still had stomach cramps while running. Eating lunch didn't help, so I ate very little. Tried eating some chocolate in the late afternoon for some energy, but it was also not very successful. Hope this things goes away soon.
