running warm up/down 30:00 [2] 5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: VJ supra (yellow)
Warm up and cool down for the 5er Staffel (Relay). I am still pretty tired from my exams and I knew it was going to be hard to run a good race. Felt surprisingly good warming up though.

The good feeling I had before the start ended pretty quickly in the race. I just couldn't concentrate. I guess I spend too much time concentrating last week and was too tired to do a good job. I had maybe 5 legs that I can say I ran well, everything else went badly. Left probably about 6 to 7 minutes out there due to mistakes. Disappointing but not surprising. I really need to make sure I recover, I am about to start a big competition block on Thursday with the Swiss WOC selction races (2 sprint races), Middle distance on Saturday, Long on Sunday and then off to Italy to help out at JWOC and run the spectator races.

OMG, finally done! Wahoo!
Went running with Ines after our last exam, felt awful and had to fight the whole way. But it wasn't surprising after this week.
For those of you who are interested, let me tell you about my last week. I just finished the 2nd semester of a Masters program in Elite sports, coaching and management. My exam week look like this:
Monday
am: Swiss Law (well, at least I know something about Swiss law now, but it was a lot of material and my mom's hubby Urs who is a lawyer thought it was amazing how much we had to know. The exam went solala, I am worried I might have to repeat this one in September.)
pm: Coaching 2, oral exam (I don't know what was wrong with me, but I was super nervous and felt very insecure during the exam. I think the first day is always hard and I had slept so little the night before that I was also really tired. The exam went ok, not great, but I certainly passed)
Tuesday
am: Communications, oral exam (got myself together and did really well on this exam, felt relaxed and confident, even made the two teachers laugh:-)).
pm: The BIG management exam; actually 3 exams in 3 hours, all at once. Market for Sport, Networks, and Sport Switzerland (I probably invested the most time into these exams, they were tough, but mostly because the teacher thinks so abstractly that most often you have no idea what he means or what he wants from you. This was an exam that I think I had a major disadvantage in taking it in foreign language. Most of the students said that they didn't even understand the questions, so how I am supposed to understand them! I think that I did the worst in the Market for Sport exam and I will probably have to repeat it, unless everyone else also did badly. Lets hope so. It's so frustrating to invest so much time into something and still feel like a failure. Not totally my fault, the teacher was really a little unfair)
Wednesday
am: Conditioning 2 (our only exam of the day! This was an exam where we received performance tests results from an athlete and we had to interpret them and plan the next 8 weeks of training for the athlete, plus explain why we set up the training like we did. This was a good form of exam, very hands on, and let us show our strengths).
Thursday
am: Coaching 1 (after studying for Coaching 2 already for Monday, Coaching 1 was not all too difficult. This is an exam that went really well)
pm: Surrounding Management (badly translated from Umfeldmanagement, basically all of the other things that an athlete has to deal with out side of sport activity; finances, sponsoring, family, social life, and how an athlete can manage sports and "life" together. This exam went well as well).
Friday
am: Science and Sports, or stickily translated acquisition of knowledge (An essay exam, except we could prepare the essay in advance and for the exam we got some more details about what needed to be in the essay, and then we had 1.5 hours to adjust it accordingly. I invested a lot of time into my essay in advance and was happy with what I wrote.)
pm: Sports Psychology (I found this class really interesting, but for the exam I had to memorize a lot of material. I was totally dead on Thursday evening and had spend a lot of time on the essay, so I did my last preparation for this exam in the 3 hours between the two exams. It's amazing how much you can memorize in 3 hours, the exam went well.)
So if all goes well I will pass everything. I certainly did every thing in my power to study as well as I could and I think I deserve to pass everything, but that won't really help me. I can't do anything now, I just have to wait for the results. Cross your fingers :-)
I still need to write one paper until Tuesday and get a part of another paper done. I am not totally free yet, but I feel a huge weight off my shoulders. Yuppee!

Finally had some time in this crazy week of exams to go running. Yeah! Unfortunately though my stomach decided not to coorperate today and I couldn't digest my lunch. It just sat in my stomach all afternoon. This made running uncomfortable. Oh well, what isn't uncomfortable in a week when you have 11 exams.
