Sunday Jul 5

running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)

Warming up for the long distance Swiss WOC selection race, which I didn't plan to run the whole thing.

Orienteering 45:39 [3] 5 km (9:08 / km)
ahr:161 max:180 9c

Ran the first loop of the course. Trying to focus on technique and not pushing hard. Still made one big mistake, didn't need to be big, but in the moment when I didn't find the control I lost confidence and it took me a long time to relocate. Didn't actually do anything wrong originally, just didn't go far enough. Grr. Need more technical training.

running 44:28 [2] 7.2 km (6:11 / km) +140m 5:38 / km
ahr:135 max:157

Went for an evening jog in Wil, where I was staying with David Schneider before heading off to Italy to be a JWOC coach for the US team. Wil is nice, beautiful run, but felt tired.

Saturday Jul 4

running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 5.8 km (6:02 / km)
ahr:140 shoes: VJ supra (yellow)

Warm up and cool down for the middle distance Swiss WOC selection race.

Orienteering race 55:41 [5] 6 km (9:17 / km) +130m 8:22 / km
ahr:182 max:190 19c shoes: VJ supra (yellow)

Really crapy race, I am just not able to concentrate and I feel really tired. I think the last month of exam stress has taken more out of me than I expected. I just can't handle being under pressure at the moment, I have been under too much pressure lately. Felt frustrated and sad when I got into the finish. Worried that WOC will be like this. A few hours later I started to realize that I must just be tired and that things will be easier soon. Need to stay positive.

Friday Jul 3

Orienteering 39:38 [2] 4.5 km (8:48 / km)
10c

Model event for the middle and long Swiss WOC selection races.

Thursday Jul 2

running 30:00 [2] 5 km (6:00 / km)

Warm-up and cool-down for Sprint number 1 of the day.

Orienteering race 17:45 [5] 2.4 km (7:24 / km) +55m 6:38 / km
14c shoes: Inov-8 X-talon

Sprint number 1 in Langenthal. Woods sprint which we are all not that used to and a lot of people made a lot of mistakes. I also made a mistake to number 5, lost about 40" and then a 15" mistake to number 12, but was actually happy with my race, starting calmly and sticking to my concept. This is harder than it sounds since I haven't done lots of orienteering races this year and I am not is great shape yet.

running warm up/down 40:00 [2] 6.7 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-talon

Warm-up and cool-down for sprint number 2 of the day.

Orienteering race 17:00 [5] 2.3 km (7:23 / km) +80m 6:18 / km
14c shoes: Inov-8 X-talon

The 2nd sprint was is Lööniwald, another woods sprint, but this time with more climb and more trails. I had a clean race this time in terms of finding the controls, but I made 2 route choice mistakes, the first one to the 2nd control, lost 40" and the girl who started 1 minute behind me caught me already:-( The second route choice mistake was about 20secs. My lack of physical fitness played a role this afternoon, I am just not yet that strong. It will come though!

Wednesday Jul 1

running 35:00 [1] 6.3 km (5:33 / km) +85m 5:12 / km
ahr:146 max:165 shoes: Karhu (red)

Easy day before the two sprint races tomorrow, middle on Saturday, and long on Sunday. Legs feel tired from yesterday.

Tuesday Jun 30

running 1:31:09 [2] 15.2 km (6:00 / km) +250m 5:32 / km
shoes: Mizuno Rider 12

hey look at me! I went on a long run :-) Awww it's nice to have some time for other things than just school! Did finish a paper today and still have one small thing to get done, but basically this semester is over :-) yahoooo!

I ran down to the lake and took a dip!! It was great to go swimming in the middle of my run. I really like where we live, it's so diverse. Than ran along the lake for a while and up and back to our house. Fun, but I was pretty slow.
