Anza Borrego -- Day 2

After being out so long yesterday, my foot started to hurt in the evening, so I had to take it easy today and not race. I took my camera with me and took some pictures and I also reset a misplace control on blue after meeting Eric out there. He asked me to go change the control. Ironically, two controls were placed wrong, the blue control and a red control, this one based off of the wrong blue control. That means I moved the blue control to the right place and found a bunch of people looking for the red control. I told them it is probably back where I took the blue control away from (300 meters away) and they went back there and found it. I didn't go back, so I have a MP in the results. No biggie. Turns out that my changing the blue control only helped one blue runner, and that was Marc.

The rest of the course went more smoothly and my foot didn't hurt as much. Hurray!

Anza Borrego -- Day 1

Really good start. Made two small bobbles, but felt strong physically and technically (the tough stuff was in the beginning too). Caught up both Cristina and Kat. Probably pushed too hard out of 5 up the big hill and on top my brain shut down. I had Kat ahead and Cristina behind and I guess I was too trusting and not paying attention enough. Kat and I ran into the wrong valley and I had no idea if I was too far left or right, too high or too low. I correctly badly, lost Kat and everyone else looking for that control, and spend 23 minutes looking for it myself. Stupid!

After this long long mistake I was getting pretty hot and tired and slugged through the rest of the course. Blah. At least the beginning was good.

After a long drive to Anza Borrego from Tuscon we ran the model event. Some of this time is also just running on trails.

Thursday Jan 14

8 AM

running 22:00 [2] 3.5 km (6:17 / km)

Running over and back to the public gym near Cristina's house to do a strength training.

strength 20:00 [1]

It turns out that you have to be "certified" to use the weight room, so we weren't allowed in. They did let us into their gym and we did some core strength along with running drills and plyos. It's really too bad about the weight training though...

running drills and plyometrics 25:00 [3]

Not quiet like we usually do them, but good enough. I didn't do tons, but some.
