running (w hiking) 2:36:05 17.53 km (8:54 / km) +200m 8:25 / km
ahr:142 max:171

Running with some hiking in the beginning and end in the Superstitions. I felt really comfortable running for 2 hours. I guess these last 3 weeks have really gotten me into shape. Yeah! Last training here. We're leaving tomorrow.

Friday Jan 29

hiking 2:43:30 [1] 8.55 km (19:07 / km)

Hiking with Becki, Papi and Marc in South Mt. Park. Fun, lots of sun:-)

5 PM

running 42:31 8.1 km (5:15 / km)
ahr:163 max:186

Running in the evening with Marc and Papi riding his bike along with us. We did 10 x 30 seconds with 30 sec rest. Felt fast. That was nice, a first in a long time...

Thursday Jan 28

2 PM

running 15:00 [1] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)

Working out at Becki's gym. This was actually on the nordic machine with Becki. She beat me in the first mile.

strength 1:00:00 [3]

Strength training with weights for the first time in 3 weeks.

Wednesday Jan 27

10 AM

running 1:27:45 13.93 km (6:18 / km) +170m 5:56 / km
ahr:162 max:183

Running in Sedona with Annette. I did a 15 minute warm-up and then did 50 minutes of 1 minutes fast and 4 minute normal. This was a fun way to get some faster stuff into a "touring" run of Sedona. It was too bad that I had some digestion problems today and had stomach cramps during this run. It was so nice to run here anyway.

1 PM

strength 32:00 [1]

Core strength in our RV camper. :-) It's raining again...

feet and ankle strength 15:30 [1]

Tuesday Jan 26

10 AM

skate skiing 2:01:23
ahr:143 max:168

Skate skiing at Flagstaff Nordic Center. Weather is nice, which we appreciate and not adventures today. A good day. I really enjoyed skiing around the trails and it was fun to meet up with Marc every so often coincidentally.

3 PM

running 56:03 9.99 km (5:37 / km)
ahr:156 max:166

Running in the afternoon from the Nordic center. It's amazing, since we didn't have any craziness today (no storm, accendents or hours to drive) we had time to train twice and relax in between.

Off to Sedona tonight.

Monday Jan 25

skate skiing 1:01:13
ahr:160 max:178

Another day, another adventure. Today's adventure was not the same positive experience that it was yesterday. The day actually started off really well, we woke up to blue skies and our plans were to go to the Flagstaff Nordic Center for a nice long ski. On our way there, we were driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane road when a huge truck decided to pass us on the right, even though the lane was narrow due to snow that was plowed on the side. He didn't have enough space and took our passenger mirror off. Great... so when spend the next 3 hours dealing with the accident, getting a police report, reporting it to our rental company, and than mounting a temporary side mirror onto our RV with a combination of tape and rope. What a pain! The guy who took the mirror off didn't think it was his fault, even though his truck was wider than our RV and the right lane is noticeable narrow. We took pictures of everything.

Anyway, we got to the Nordic Center in time to do 1 hour of xc-skiing before the trails closed. The "very friendly lady" at the reception also brighten up our day (notice the irony in my tone). At least the xc-skiing was awesome and SO beautiful.

No time for any more training today. What a shame.
