running 14:20 [3] 2.02 km (7:05 / km) +55m 6:14 / km

What a beautiful day! It was the most incredible weather, warm and sunny, unfortunately, I was stuck indoors all day. I had a continuing education day and couldn't really go out at all. But the course was close to the Swiss Night-O champs, so I decided to take part. Warming up during in the dark felt weird, but the warmth of the day made the evening particularly comfortable. I was motivated to orienteer well and I had my goals in my head. Ready to go!

Orienteering race 47:51 [5] 5.54 km (8:38 / km) +147m 7:37 / km

I ran D35 today because I didn't want to run Elite (too long) and I felt like I wouldn't have a chance to do well in DAL, so why not D35 and see how I fair against the other women. I focused on my direction tonight, certainly while leaving the control, but also during the leg. I also wanted to take the time needed to plan each leg. I did both of these things well and got into a nice flow by the end, which is exactly the feeling that makes me love to orienteer. Nice to have it again.
My legs felt great and I could really push my pace without suffering too much. I could almost run up every hill. On the long leg I think I took a good route and I have the best time on that leg, so probably was a good plan. I made a mistake to 7, because I decided to take the river back towards the trail and it was slow running, plus I had more climb at the end of the leg because of it. Otherwise really clean race and lots of fun.
I was of course really happy to see that I also won:-) My first Swiss title in my age category. Glad Sime still runs elite ;-)

Biking with chariot 20:00 [3]

I took both kids in the Chariot to go to the forest and then to see the bunny rabbits. It was hard work to bike with them and so I am deciding to log it ;-)

running 52:30 [2] 9.1 km (5:46 / km) +200m 5:12 / km

Running from the bunny location, since Marc came to find us there and took the kids home. Good coordination and good that I decided to get dressed in my running clothes just in case this became possible.

I don't have any garmin tracks on either of these workouts because for some odd reason my watch erased them (everything on the watch actually). Strange.

Orienteering 36:57 [2] 4.27 km (8:39 / km) +183m 7:07 / km

The last night-O training before the Swiss champs in Night-O this weekend. I was coaching as usual, so I didn't get much O in, but I did do a short warm-up and one of the loops once everyone was in the forest. I have had trouble with my direction and leaving the control in the correct direction lately, certainly a problem at night, but I also didn't do a good job with my direction during the day last Sunday. I will try to focus on doing this better this weekend. Should help a lot if I at least leave the control in the direction I want to go. :-)

running 58:04 [4] 7.32 km (7:56 / km) +1m 7:56 / km

Intervals with the regional team. The plan was to run 5 x 1000m but unfortuntaley since Sunday I have had some strange pain in my right knee. Also my left hip is still hurting from slipping out while classic skiing on Saturday. I didn't think I would do any type of speed work, but once I was there I wanted to run with the girls a bit. So, I opted to do the first 400m with them and then wait while they came around again and then ran their last 200m with them. This was a good option because I helped them pace their kms that way. The fastest girl was running them in 3:40-3:45... I remember those days... I wonder if I will run that fast again.

Local ANCO O race. I wish I would actually do some proper orienteering while out in the forest. I seem to leave a lot of it up to luck and this doesn't really always work. I had surprizingly good legs, which didn't help me orienteering any better. Probably made 5 x 1-3 min mistakes during this course. Frustrating to orienteer like this. I have one more training before the Night-O champs and 1st national A meet coming up next week. Just gotta find my groove again.

I had good legs, but things were hurting as well. I seem to have an inflammation in my right knee which started hurting more and more while orienteering. Also, yesterday while classic skiing I tweeked my hip flexor which was hurting running uphill. This pain is very similar to the pain I had in 2010 which basically took me out of running for almost a year. Scary!
