Note

My baby girl started to throw up on Sunday night and continued for over 24 hours. The poor girl is really suffering, and so are her parents. But things are getting better, she can hold down fluids now and is sleeping a lot. Hope those playful bright eyes come back soon and we can continue with life as normal. Spent the whole day taking care of her yesterday, which included holding her for a good part of the day while she on and off slept and today I don't think I will get out for any exercise either. Being thrown up on a dozen times, the down mood of a sick baby and lack of sleep makes me feel pretty yucky, so I am not even in the mood to go for a run. A few rest days won't hurt anyway.

The sun was shining and Lena was sleeping all day, so I actually had a pretty chill morning, except for every 1.5 hours when she would cry, drink a few spoonful of Gookinaid or coke or milk and than go back to bed. I decided the next time she wakes up that I would put her in the jogging stroller and go out. I'm glad I did, the weather was great and she slept basically the whole way. It's amazing that after I got back ,I had to put her down to bed again and she slept another 1.5 hours before being awake for almost an hour (the longest stretch of the day) between 7 and 8 pm. Afterwards she slept through to 5:30am and then 7am and now at 8:45 she is back asleep. She has basically slept the last 30 hours straight...

running warm up/down 29:20 [2] 3.78 km (7:46 / km) +370m 5:13 / km

Long way to the start today, but much shorter than they said in the information, so I was at the start way too earlier which wasn't much fun considering there was thick fog and a cold breeze. Later in the day the sun came out, those of us starting around 10am got an unexpected cold start to our day (especially after the warm weather on Friday and Saturday). I tried to warm up as much as I could, but my hands were freezing when I started the race.

Orienteering 44:54 [5] 6.77 km (6:38 / km) +152m 5:58 / km

Another day racing in D35, today with more participants, so a better test to how fast these "old" women run (j.k. to everyone older than 35;-)). As I said in my warm-up, I was really pretty cold starting my race, which certainly affected my speed for the first few controls. My hands hurt so much on the way to number 2 that I could hardly hold my map. Once they warmed up, i forgot about it. Gladly enough, I was able to concentrate on the orienteering while I was cold and for the rest of the course as well. Same goals as yesterday, harder to achieve after being successful the day before (at least that is the case for me). I kept my concentration high and got into the race control for control. No big mistakes until number 11 where I got distracted by the fact that the ride went further up the hill than on the map and crossing my path on the way to the control. Since the ride past the control went up that high, I thought I went too far even though my feeling for distance didn't think so. Did a 1min loop to check that I didn't go to far and then continued to the control. Too bad actually, that 1 min would have made a big difference in the results.
Today's race was tight and I ended up 6th, 3:30min behind the first place. I saw on the splits that I also lost time on the long leg, so a bad route choice there. 2 minutes faster based on mistakes and maybe 30 seconds due to being cold in the beginning. But that is being genergous on lost time. I am actually very happy with my performance and the feeling I had during the race.
Fun to orienteer like this!

running 14:20 [3] 2.02 km (7:05 / km) +55m 6:14 / km

What a beautiful day! It was the most incredible weather, warm and sunny, unfortunately, I was stuck indoors all day. I had a continuing education day and couldn't really go out at all. But the course was close to the Swiss Night-O champs, so I decided to take part. Warming up during in the dark felt weird, but the warmth of the day made the evening particularly comfortable. I was motivated to orienteer well and I had my goals in my head. Ready to go!

Orienteering race 47:51 [5] 5.54 km (8:38 / km) +147m 7:37 / km

I ran D35 today because I didn't want to run Elite (too long) and I felt like I wouldn't have a chance to do well in DAL, so why not D35 and see how I fair against the other women. I focused on my direction tonight, certainly while leaving the control, but also during the leg. I also wanted to take the time needed to plan each leg. I did both of these things well and got into a nice flow by the end, which is exactly the feeling that makes me love to orienteer. Nice to have it again.
My legs felt great and I could really push my pace without suffering too much. I could almost run up every hill. On the long leg I think I took a good route and I have the best time on that leg, so probably was a good plan. I made a mistake to 7, because I decided to take the river back towards the trail and it was slow running, plus I had more climb at the end of the leg because of it. Otherwise really clean race and lots of fun.
I was of course really happy to see that I also won:-) My first Swiss title in my age category. Glad Sime still runs elite ;-)

Biking with chariot 20:00 [3]

I took both kids in the Chariot to go to the forest and then to see the bunny rabbits. It was hard work to bike with them and so I am deciding to log it ;-)

running 52:30 [2] 9.1 km (5:46 / km) +200m 5:12 / km

Running from the bunny location, since Marc came to find us there and took the kids home. Good coordination and good that I decided to get dressed in my running clothes just in case this became possible.

I don't have any garmin tracks on either of these workouts because for some odd reason my watch erased them (everything on the watch actually). Strange.

Orienteering 36:57 [2] 4.27 km (8:39 / km) +183m 7:07 / km

The last night-O training before the Swiss champs in Night-O this weekend. I was coaching as usual, so I didn't get much O in, but I did do a short warm-up and one of the loops once everyone was in the forest. I have had trouble with my direction and leaving the control in the correct direction lately, certainly a problem at night, but I also didn't do a good job with my direction during the day last Sunday. I will try to focus on doing this better this weekend. Should help a lot if I at least leave the control in the direction I want to go. :-)
