running warm up/down 7:56 [3] 0.53 km (14:56 / km)

Warming up for our last local O race.

Orienteering race 33:21 [4] 5.26 km (6:21 / km) +95m 5:49 / km

A town-O in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the snow and ice. The icy conditions on the roads made for a lot of slow hesitant running interspersed with sprinting when the roads where dry, trying to make up time. I didn't make any big mistakes to speak of, but I was not moving fast enough to challenge my orienteering ability in a town and on a map I already know very well. I did enough running this race though, don't know why, but I always get a kick out of "sprint" orienteering, regardless of how fast or slow, short or long.

Note

Today is Wednesday and I feel like this week has been the longest of my life. We found out on Monday that my Aunt has cancer and I am crushed for her and my uncle. They have 6 children and life is going to be very complicated for them in the future. Plus, my throat has turned into a real problem, yesterday I could not swallow anymore, it is so swollen that it also felt restricting to breath, so I went to the doctors. They couldn't help me. Not strep so nothing you can do, just drink lots and rest. Easier said than done, but my mom took the kids for the night and Marc took over the night-O training, so I was able to rest and sleep well. This morning my throat feels much better but a new lump as appeared, I am in total shock about Trump's election. I cried, I must admit that. Seems like a trend this week :-(
