Run up Roche des Tabellets 2x like I did last year to see what kind of shape I am in and to prepare a bit better for this Friday's VK in Chamonix that I didn't know I would be running until last week on Thursday... haven't done so much climbing this year. Actually, I really thought I was a much worse shape than last year. I haven't trained as much, I am heavier and I have pain in my feet... so I never imagined to be in the same shape. Already while climbing the first time I realized I was having a good day. I could run all the way up comfortably basically until the last 5min where my muscles got tired. Running steep uphill I am limited by my muscle strength and now cardiovascular. I was super happy to feel that strong and my time was already quick then. This motivated my for my 2nd time up to do a good time. This time I ran about 1/2 the climb and then started power walking the 2nd half (I can push the effort much more power walking) and suffered the last bit, but was supper happy with the time of 24:36!
Times last year vs this year: 1st: 29:14 vs 27:41 2nd: 25:58 vs 24:36
Also my time running down fast (but not killing it) was 13:51 vs 13:44, good vibes!
Now I just hope I can recover until Friday evening. I really pushed hard the 2nd time...

Had a day of testing with my juniors and decided to run home from Marin to be "time efficient" as in not loose time trying to get back out the door once I am home, since I am sure the kids wouldn't be so happy with me leaving again. This was a good option time-wise, but oh man does it hurt to run 15km on pavement. Ouch! Already after about 8km I was starting to regret this idea. My big toes are basically always painful, but this was worse then normal and my left ankle as started to click again. I feel like I am where I was 2 years ago before my ankle operation. I guess the broken off bone was a reason to cause inflammation which causes the clicking, but wasn't the cause of the clicking. Now that my toe joint is swollen, the clicking is back. ahhhhhhh! When you are in pain, running is a lot less fun. But it's not enough pain to stop all together. How dumb am I that I cannot stop running for a few weeks? But there never seems to be a good moment, especially right now is not optimal since I am racing two races this coming weekend and next weekend...
