Friday Nov 30

Biking 1:00:06 [3]
I went on the stationary bike again. I really want to go running!

Thursday Nov 29

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
The first city tournament game. We beat the Goal Girls 1-0 thanks to a PK early on. They were a really rough team and their goalie even got a red card (for swearing at the ref). It was still fun though. And my foot was bothering me whenever I ran, which was obnoxious, though the game took my mind off of it.

Wednesday Nov 28

Note
(rest day)
I took today off also, because my foot still hurts a little. It's a lot better than it was on Monday (yesterday I was sitting down practically all day, so it's hard to compare), and my dad thinks it was just inflamed or something because of over use. I'm planning on playing soccer tomorrow night, so I wanted to rest it today.

Tuesday Nov 27

Biking 1:00:41 [3]
Since my foot is still bothering me, I didn't want to go running, but I wanted to get in some sort of exercise. I went on my dad's stationary bike for a while. In general I dislike any sort of exercise machinery (I'd rather just go for a run), but I read my history book so I didn't get too bored. It also helped get rid of the soreness in my quads so they feel fine now.
C • reading history on a bike reminds me... 4

Monday Nov 26

Note
(rest day)
I took today off to rest my legs. They're still pretty sore, though nothing bad except the outside bottom of my right foot still hurts anytime I put weight on it. Hopefully it'll go away by tomorrow.

Sunday Nov 25

Event: Seattle marathon

Running 1:34:39 [3] 13.1 mi (7:12 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Seattle half marathon:
Simone and I started about 3 minutes after the start because of really long bathroom lines and then having to push our way to the front. After about 3.5 miles, I told her to go ahead, because I was getting really tired (we were running 7 minute miles and she was speeding up). I ended up running the rest of it by myself. I ran the first four miles in 28 minutes, and the next two miles were both around 7:20. I slowed down a little after that. The last two years I've felt really strong on the big hill at mile 7.5, but this year I was pretty tired on it. My goal for this year was to get sub-8 minute miles the entire course, and I definitely did that, so I'm happy. I was pretty tired by the end. I ended up with blisters on both feet (even though I wore the same socks and shoes i've been wearing on all my long runs) and my left quad felt a little stiff at times during the race, but not bad.

soccer 1:00:00 [3]

Directly after the half marathon, I went to my soccer game because we only had 10 players without me. I got there a few minutes late, and then I played forward for a couple minutes till I realized I could still run (I had made sure to stretch well after the half maraton) so I switched back to defense (my usual position). I was feeling ok, especially for the first half, though I was getting pretty tired by the end. The second half I started in goal to get some rest, and that was just the worst decision ever. I gave up an easy goal that I should have been able to stop, but my mind was thinking one thing and my body just wasn't cooperating. I then went back out and played on the field the rest of the game, though by the end I was just ready for it to be over. It was fun though. My legs were pretty sore (especially the bottom of my right foot). I'm just going to take it easy this afternoon.

Friday Nov 23

Note
(rest day)
I'm taking a couple days off to rest my legs before the half marathon. I'm also getting lots of sleep, which is good.
C • GOOD LUCK!!!!! 3

Thursday Nov 22

Running 46:01 [3] 6.0 mi (7:40 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran to Discovery Park, around the loop trail there, and back home. I hadn't gone on this run since before cross country started, so I enjoyed it. It was half soft surface and there weren't any lights. The run felt good. It was also a sunny, clear day, so there were lots of people out in the park.

Wednesday Nov 21

Running 41:21 [3] 5.0 mi (8:15 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Holly and I ran to NSCC and back. I was tired (I'm so glad it's break!) but it was a nice run.

Tuesday Nov 20

rock climbing 1:45:00 [3]
I went climbing with the school climbing club. I hadn't gone climbing for a while, so I mostly did 5.8s (and one 5.9) and those were even hard since my arms got tired so easily. It was really fun though, and I'm hoping to go a lot more frequently this coming year.

Monday Nov 19

Running 46:27 [3] 5.0 mi (9:16 / mi)
shoes: Asics
We ran to North Seattle Community College and back. We were orignially going to run 10 miles today (I wanted to get in another longer run before the half marathon), but Holly and I were kind of sore from all our soccer games over the weekend and partway through the run it started hailing really hard (which was cold and slightly painful), so we cut the run short. My legs were kind of sore all day, but they felt a lot better after the run.

Sunday Nov 18

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
The first of two soccer games today. My team signed up for a tournament with other rec teams from the area (not in the city of Seattle though), so we had a game today. Since we found out about the game less than a week ago and we already had a game planned for today, we only had 9 players. We still only lost 2-1, and we had lots of opportunities to score the second half. It was really fun since this is probably the best team we've faced all season (at least before they got tired) and we were doing really well even with 2 less players on the field.
soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
This was the last season game for my rec team. We tied 3-3. I had a headache the first half, and I was just kind of tired the second half. It was a much easier game than earlier today, but being tired didn't help. We did have two subs.

Saturday Nov 17

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
We tied the Steelhead 0-0. We started with 9 or 10 players though quickly got up to 11. We still didn't have any subs and the other team did.
C • I'm loving how... 2
Orienteering 23:42 [3] 3 km (7:54 / km)
shoes: Orienteering shoes
This was the 2nd WIOL meet, but the first one I was at this year. It was at Magnuson, and it was pouring rain with lots of puddles (which i ran straight through though my shoes were soaking). I messed up control 4 (a minute or two error) because i went too far on the trail before cutting through to the thicket, but i quickly realized my error i then just took a little longer route back (through green) than i should have. Besides that it was a pretty good run (except for a couple other minor errors).

WIOL Course 5 - Splits

Thursday Nov 15

Running 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:59 / mi)
shoes: Asics
4 of us ran to Hamlin and did some orienteering practice there. i started following one of the permanent courses and then i had extra time so i just ran around to some of the other controls.

Tuesday Nov 13

Running 52:00 [3] 5.7 mi (9:07 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running to Hamlin, around the big loop there twice, and back. I was running with lots of people, so it was fun.

Monday Nov 12

Running 45:31 [3] 5.0 mi (9:05 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running to Shoreline Community College and back. Although running along 145th isn't very nice since you're right next to the cars, it was nice to do a different run than the ones we always do.
soccer 30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
I was the only player who showed up at soccer practice, so I ran around and took some PKs for about 30 minutes and then went home.

Saturday Nov 10

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
We tied our soccer game 1-1, but that was good since we were playing down two players (we only had 9 and the other team had 11 plus subs).

Friday Nov 9

Running 1:28:00 [3] 10.0 mi (8:47 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran to Greelake, around, and back with Holly and Logan. I hadn't gone on this long of a run for a while, so it was really nice and it felt good.

Thursday Nov 8

Running 31:31 [3] 3.0 mi (10:30 / mi)
shoes: Asics
A nice slow run to Hamlin and back.

Wednesday Nov 7

Running 55:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:59 / mi)
shoes: Asics
A nice run to Hamlin, around the loop there twice, and back. I took a couple days off to rest and catch up on homework, so it was nice to go for a semi-long run again.

Sunday Nov 4

Orienteering 1:24:09 [3] 5.7 km (14:46 / km)
shoes: Orienteering shoes
I had bad controls on 4 and 8, and the rest were alright.
C • Congratulations, again 2

Day 2 Green Y - Splits

Saturday Nov 3

Orienteering 1:13:15 [3]*** 5.1 km (14:22 / km)
shoes: Orienteering shoes
My first couple controls were just a little sloppy and I then made a 10 minute parallel error on number 3 (even though I had consciously thought about the possibility of taking the wrong spur and tried to make sure not to). Besides that, it was a pretty good race, although there was thick vegetation in places.

Day 1 Green Y - Splits

Friday Nov 2

Event: US Champs

Orienteering 26:51 [3]*** 2.5 km (10:44 / km)
shoes: Orienteering shoes
Sprint at US Champs. I had a two minute error on the first control since I was looking for a ruins and it appeared to be in a pit and I was also just confused and too far to one side. Even though I had just run the model, it didn't seem to help me focus on the first control. I also had a 4-5 minute error on control 7 because I cut through, but when I got to the stream, I turned left instead of right. Besides that, it was a pretty good race; unfortuneately, sprints are so short that these mistakes counted a lot.
