Wednesday Oct 31

Running 36:00 [3] 4.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Warm-up, cool-down, and 4 race pace intervals at upper woodland.

Monday Oct 29

Running 22:40 [3] 3.0 mi (7:33 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I got to xc late, so I ran the Haller Lake loop backwards to meet up with everybody, but it turned out they had run the loop backwards too, so I ended up running by myself. The loop is a little less than 3 miles, I managed to not have to stop at the stoplights, and I was running fast initially to try and catch up with people, so I ran it faster than I typically run that loop. This run felt really good.
soccer 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
soccer practice. We did a lot of 3 v 2 (with only five people) and keep away, so it was more running than normal at practice, not that that means much with my team.

Sunday Oct 28

Note
(rest day)

Saturday Oct 27

soccer 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
I got to my soccer game late, but I got to play in most of it. We won 6-0, so it wasn't a very good game, but since I had missed the last two games (out of town), I was really glad to be playing again.
Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]
Vampire O! I ran with Holly and Drew, so we ran (though not amazingly fast) for pretty much all of it. We got tagged by the vampire when we had only one control left, which was frustating, though after taking someone else's punchard, being "bitten" again on the way to that person's missing controls, and then tagging someone else, I think we ended up with a complete punchcard. The guy said he might have some mispunches though, but time was up, so we headed back. Besides overshooting a couple controls, our navigation was pretty good. It did help that there were clumps of flashlights at a lot of the controls though.

Friday Oct 26

Running 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
We ran from school to Greenlake and then around the trail on the inside slowly. I was a little sore from yesterday (maybe it had something to do with running through the mud?) but I felt good once I was running.
C • Soreness 3

Thursday Oct 25

Running race 19:59 [5] 5 km (4:00 / km) vdot: 49.9
shoes: Asics spikes
Districts race at Sammamish Park. The course was really muddy and all the times are therefore slower than normal. I was also just really exhausted the entire race, probably due to the fact that I haven't gotten a lot of sleep recently. I had a 6:06 first mile. The team won, and I just feel bad since I'm going to US Champs instead of state.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Warming up and cooling down at Sammamish.

Wednesday Oct 24

Running 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
A slow jog around Haller Lake.

Tuesday Oct 23

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
24 minute run to North Acres, two loops there and back.
3 x 500 m (400 around the track at 1:30 plus 100 meters faster on the quad)
2 x 500 m (same but with the faster part at the end and while wearing spikes)
1.25 mile cool down around the track

Monday Oct 22

Running 35:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:44 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Run through graveyard and back.
soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
Soccer practice!

Sunday Oct 21

Note
I helped out at the training camp this weekend, so I did a bunch of other orienteering. I was trying to take a rest day today so lots of it involved walking the courses, though.

Saturday Oct 20

Orienteering 37:50 [3] 4.3 km (8:48 / km)
A meet at Fort Casey. I was navigating pretty well, until, after realizing 9 was at the bottom of the cliff and therefore running down the cliff to the beach, I forgot that it existed and ran straight to 10 and didn't realize I got a mp till I finished and downloaded. I ran right by the control though, and when I was picking up controls later, I found it very easily.

Friday Oct 19

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running around Haller Lake, to North Acres, 5 x a small hill, a loop around the park, 5 x a longer stretch, a loop around the park, and 5 x a longer hill then back to school. We then ran 4 400s around the track.

Thursday Oct 18

Running 38:00 [3] 4.0 mi (9:29 / mi)
shoes: Asics
A run around North Acres, to the graveyard, around Haller Lake, and finishing with one lap around the track. Today was an easy practice after the race yesterday.

Wednesday Oct 17

Running 20:01 [5] 5 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Asics spikes
Metro league champs at Lincoln Park. Everyone started fast, so I had about a 5:53 first mile. I was obviously really tired, but I was able to pass someone near the end. The hill felt better than it has the other times. Overall it was a good race, and I got a PR by 26 seconds. My team also won, which was really exciting. I was 14th, and my other team members that counted for the score (top 5) were 1, 4, 6?, and 12.
Running warm up/down 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics

Tuesday Oct 16

Running 36:00 [3] 4.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
A run around North Acres, to the graveyard, and around Haller Lake. It was an easy day since Metros is tomorrow. My legs still feel tired from the weekend, but they should be ok by tomorrow.
C • Go Tori! 3

Monday Oct 15

Running 27:00 [3] 3.5 mi (7:43 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running the Haller Lake loop for warm-up then two 500 m where the first 400 m was around the track at a 90 second pace (although we ran them a little faster) with a finishing sprint on the quad.
soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
Soccer practice. Unfortuneately the lights went out after about an hour, though we were able to find a softball field which was somewhat lighted where we continued.

Sunday Oct 14

Orienteering 1:45:28 [3]*** 5.3 km (19:54 / km)
shoes: Orienteering shoes
the 2nd day at Boggs Mountain. I had a horrible run. I'll write more details later.

Saturday Oct 13

Event: 2007 Western States Orienteering Championships

Orienteering 1:15:17 [3]*** 5.2 km (14:29 / km)
shoes: Orienteering shoes
First day at Boggs mountain. This just wasn't a very clean run since I wasn't used to having so many vegetation boundaries. It wasn't horrible though. I'll write more later.

Thursday Oct 11

Running race 20:27 [5] 5 km (4:05 / km) vdot: 48.5
shoes: Asics spikes
The last league meet at Lincoln Park. I ran with spikes (which thankfully didn't give me blisters or anything since this was my first time wearing them). I had a 6:12 first mile. This race just felt really good. I was able to push myself up the hill, my breathing was a lot better at the top of the hill, and I had a kick at the end. I still didn't have anyone close either in front of me or behind me when I finished, though. I'm excited for Metros next week to see how the team does.
C • Good run! 3
Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
warm up around Lincoln Park and cool down while cheering for the guys.

Wednesday Oct 10

Running 45:30 [3] 5.0 mi (9:05 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running to the graveyard, through it, back to school, and then a loop around school to get it to be 5 miles. It was an easy day since we have a meet tomorrow.

Tuesday Oct 9

Running 52:00 [3] 5.2 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
We ran to NSCC and back, but instead of just running to the Western entrance and turning around, we did a loop around the entire campus. It was fun since we went through the wooded area that I hadn't known existed until the cell phone o' a couple weeks ago.
Strength 10:00 [3]
push-ups, planks, lunges
Abs 10:00 [3]

Monday Oct 8

Running 36:00 [3] 3.75 mi (9:36 / mi)
shoes: Asics
We went to Ravenna Park and ran this long gradual hill there that was about 1 km long. We jogged down three times, ran up it race pace the first and third times, and faster than race pace the 2nd.

Saturday Oct 6

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
This was a soccer game against our rival team. It was a rough game and we tied 0-0. It was really fun.

Friday Oct 5

Running 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran to Hamlin as a warm-up, and then did 3 loops there. For the first and third loops, I ran at race pace for the flat areas and jogged up the hills (so basically no rest), and the middle lap was jogging the flats and race pace up the hills. There is one really big hill on the loop as well as a couple small ones. I then ran back to school and did 4 finishing sprints (about 100 m on a grass field).
C • Another cool workout! 3

Thursday Oct 4

Running 58:00 [3] 5.5 mi (10:32 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running up the Ayrault hill at school, then to Hamlin, 2 loops there (plus a small loop), and back. My legs were a little stiff since I should have stretched more yesterday, but in general I felt good.
Abs 10:00 [3]
Strength 5:00 [3]
planks and push-ups
soccer 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
There were only three people at practice, so we mostly worked on long kicks, PKs, free kicks, etc. so there wasn't much running.

Wednesday Oct 3

Running 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Running around Greenlake with two coaches walking around but spaced out and we had to run back and forth between them the entire way around, meaning we were constantly doubling back. Sometimes we were jogging, other times running at race pace, other times faster than race pace. This was a fun workout since it was unique.
C • That does sound fun! 1

Tuesday Oct 2

Running 49:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:47 / mi)
shoes: Asics
We ran to the community college and back.
Strength 10:00 [3]
push-ups and planks
Abs 10:00 [3]

Monday Oct 1

Running 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics
We ran from Lakeside to Ingraham and around the track there once to warm up, and then I ran back to Lakeside later to cool down.
Running 13:35 [3] 2.25 mi (6:02 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Pacing workout at the track. We ran 3 x 1200 m at 4:30. My last one was about 5 seconds slow since I have a cold and my throat was kind of stuffed up so I was having problems breathing. I hate running when I have a cold. I had to leave early to go somewhere, so I wasn't able to finish the rest of the workout.
