Monday Dec 31

Running 12:26 [3] 1.5 mi (8:17 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I had to go for a really short run since I woke up late and I needed to be back home soon after I started. I just ran along the boulevard a little ways then back. Hopefully I can go on a longer run tomorrow.

Saturday Dec 29

Orienteering 1:06:17 [3] 4.3 km (15:25 / km) +560m 9:20 / km
shoes: Orienteering shoes
Bog Slog at St. Edwards. It was a pretty fun course, although a couple controls were questionable and I just failed at cutting through green. My main problems were 2 and 3. For #2, I cut through the forest and ended up at the hill top I wanted to be on (just on the other side of it) and yet it still took me 8 minutes to fight my way through the green, and it took other people only 3 minutes to get through. I even ended up minorly scratchiny my eyelids somehow. maybe it's a bad idea to close my eyes and just push through if i get stopped by vines. and then going to three, i realized it was a 1:10,000 map, and yet i still had it in my mind that 2 cm was only 100 m. I was pacecounting, so i realized i had gone way more than 100 meters, and since the bridge (the control feature) wasn't on the map, i thought i was looking for a beach. after almost 14 minutes, i decided to go relocate from farther up the trail and as i was running, i came across the control right on the trail, over twice as far as i initially thought it was. i felt pretty stupid with that one; i shouldn't have wasted so much time running up and down the trail in the area where i thought the control was. I lost a little time on 8, since the control was a little farther south than i think it should have been. And going to 10, i had a good route, it just took me longer to go through the green than it should have. Overall, it was a fun run, and I've realized that I really need to work on running quickly through areas with lots of vegetation.

Thursday Dec 27

Running 22:27 [3] 3.0 mi (7:29 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran to Discovery Park and back. It was pretty cold out.

Monday Dec 24

Running 16:23 [3] 1.8 mi (9:05 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Roxy and I started running around Greenlake, though we had to stop early since she wasn't feeling well.
Walking 28:00 [3] 1.3 mi (21:32 / mi)
shoes: Asics
Walking the rest of the way around the lake back to our cars. I'm not sure exactly how far around the lake we were, so the distances (and walking time) are just estimates.

Saturday Dec 22

Running 42:56 [3] 5.5 mi (7:48 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran to Discovery Park, around there (on the roads and the more open area in the southwestern part of the park), back along the Boulevard past my house to the small bridge, and then home from there. I altered my normal Discovery Park run because it was getting dark, although it was nice to do something different.

Friday Dec 21

Orienteering 48:10 [3]
shoes: Asics
I ran around the permanent orienteering course at Hamlin with Arianna. We didn't have enough maps for everyone, so we ran in pairs.

Tuesday Dec 18

Running 41:22 [3] 4.2 mi (9:50 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran to the entrance to Shoreline Community College and back with Drew and William.

*edit* I changed the distance after looking up how far it was on google maps.

Monday Dec 17

rock climbing 1:30:00 [3]
climbing with the climbing club from school. my arms/fingers got tired so quickly! i'm hoping to go climbing a few times over break and get more into climbing shape.

Saturday Dec 15

Orienteering 23:25 [3] 4.2 km (5:35 / km)
shoes: Asics
WIOL #4. I didn't make any navigational errors. I felt like I was running kind of slow since I haven't run that much recently, but it was obviously fast enough. I can't wait for splits to be posted.
C • Great run! 3
soccer 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
Last soccer game with the Cheetahs. This was the city finals for U19 rec soccer. We tied the Ligers 0-0 and then won in a shootout because of Holly's amazing shot (she was the 6th person to shoot). I had to leave the game about 10 minutes before it was over for a stupid college interview, and I really wish I could have been there the entire time, but it turned out well.

Friday Dec 14

Running 29:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:39 / mi)
A run around Haller Lake with Holly, Drew, and Max. We brought along Teanaway maps from the Goat/Kid in '06, so we practiced choosing routes.

Thursday Dec 13

Running 43:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:36 / mi)
shoes: Asics
I ran through the graveyard with Holly, Drew, and William. It was so exciting to finally go on a run again! :-)
Strength 5:00 [3]
planks and push-ups. William helped motivate me to actually do something after the run instead of just going straight home to do homework.

Tuesday Dec 11

soccer 1:25:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
We tied the lightning 0-0, but we won the shoot-out. I'm so excited for the finals on Saturday! :-)
C • Yeah! 2

Sunday Dec 9

soccer 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
We beat the Steelheads 1-0. And I am feeling a lot better, though still not completely well. I obviously wasn't about to not play, but i did at least get subbed a few times. Of course I tired quicker than normal, and I was colder than I normally am while exercising too. It was still a pretty fun game, and although the other team was really pushy, I'm just glad they weren't as good as some other teams, so I didn't have to run as much as normal.

Friday Dec 7

Note
I have a fever of 102.4. I'm staying home today and sleeping a lot.
C • Oh no! hope you feel better... 2

Thursday Dec 6

Note
My foot's still feeling a little off, so I've taken this week off from running as well (except for soccer). I'm hoping by next week, I'll be able to go on long runs after school with people. I'm trying to think of this as a winter training break (sort of). I also feel like I'm coming down with a cold, so we'll see.

Wednesday Dec 5

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
Tournament game against the Jaguars. We won 2-0, which was exciting since from today on, if we lose, we're out.

Monday Dec 3

soccer 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: cleats
Second game of the city tournament. We tied the Lightning 1-1, though we scored a goal right as the ref called time and refs aren't supposed to end the game when a team's in a scoring position, so we should have won. We then lost the shoot-out. And the weather even kind of cooperated for us. My foot wasn't hurting, but it still felt a little strange.

Sunday Dec 2

Note
I'm taking another day off because my foot is feeling a lot better, but I want it to stay that way.
On a random note, I started keeping track of distances I was running on a white board in my room on June 2 (I didn't realize all the cool stuff about attackpoint at that time), and in the past 6 months, I've run 407 miles (not including while orienteering or playing soccer or anything besides just going for a run). 228 of those miles were during cross country season (from the first day of practice to training with the team before state- 8/20/07-10/31/07).

(I just mentioned this in a note so I can finally erase the white board without losing the numbers.)

Saturday Dec 1

Orienteering 31:53 [3] 3.7 km (8:37 / km)
The third WIOL meet at Hamlin park. My biggest mistake was from control 2-3. I guess I must have ended up on the trail that was drawn in by hand. I also somehow crossed over a paved path without realizing. I lost a couple minutes there just because I ended up on the wrong trail, so I made a big loop around instead of going straight to the point. Then from control 6-7, the circle for control 11 was right on that line, so I ran to control 11 and then realized I wasn't even halfway to my control. I probably lost another minute or so there because I was being really careful with the trails as well as ending up about 50 m north of the (wrong) control and then having to figure out exactly where i was again. if i had realized i needed to keep going, i would have gone faster since there was a huge trail to catch me just on the other side of 11. And for control 10, i saw a fairly big trail intersection and thought that was what i was looking for instead of an even bigger trail intersection farther on, so I lost a tiny bit of time there too, but not much. In general, it was an all right run. I could definitely notice that my foot wasn't feeling like normal, but it felt a lot better than it has the past week, so that's good. And there were a record 14 Lakesiders at the meet! I was very excited by that.
