Meet at Tilden.

This was an interesting course in a different part of the park than usual, which I really appreciated. However, I still don't enjoy orienteering in the Bay Area. I hoped that by doing a shorter course, I would enjoy it a bit more, but I just can't get into it when I'm constantly looking down worried about poison oak and I know that the main challenge is just getting up and down steep slopes that don't look bad on the map.

My main time loss was due to two controls where the map looked like it would be good to cut through, but I think I would have been a lot faster if I had just taken the trail. My goal was to focus on having good flow in and out of controls and actually reading ahead. I realized at NAOC that I had gotten out of the habit of reading ahead well, and I wanted to start that again. I wasn't going too fast because I just can't get into the mindset of racing on the maps around here, so I decided to focus on flow instead.
