Ride (MTB-O) 1:15:09 [4] 22.47 km (3:21 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

MTB-O Summer Series at Lysterfield. I think my route choice was quite good, until the end when I needed to make decisions about which CPs to leave out to make it back in time. I was too ambitious and ended up having to drop my final 3, 2 of which were only just off the main track. Rushed back but was 9 seconds late. Finished with 330 points and in 11th I think - more importantly, I beat my arch nemises :-)

Ride 1:12:30 [3] 36.5 km (1:59 / km)
shoes: Giant TCR One (road)

Dave's new flash roadie finally arrived so we went for an afternoon spin to Black Rock and back. Windy day so we swapped turns there and back.

Ride 2:28:00 [3] 48.0 km (3:05 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Morning Anglesea loop with Dave and Chad. With each of our different levels of fitness we seemed to all be very evenly matched which was good. Lovely morning out.

Ride 1:44:00 [3] 33.9 km (3:04 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Morning ride to Anglesea the back way, then got fairly badly lost amongst the big open cut mine to the point where I was bike pushing over rutted tyre tracks the size of swimming pools. Also passed a couple of unmanned diesel pumps, which was when I really knew I wasn't supposed to be there. A couple of fence climbs later I was back on track and rode home on the road.

Monday Dec 26, 2011 #

Ride 54:30 [3] 16.0 km (3:24 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Arvo loop from Fairhaven with Dave. Ironbark Tk and back via the mobile tower. Plenty of hills in a short ride and harder than intended.

Run 47:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:53 / km)

Late arvo run when it was still 28 degrees. My good running feeling from last week certainly hasn't carried over into this week. Ran the Kananook Creek Trail to Seaford, and back along the foreshore and river tracks. Had to stop for a few breathers along the way.

Kayak 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Red 7 Double Ocean Ski

Christmas lights paddle with Dave, Steven and Craig. Paddled in the double with Steve who hasn't really ever paddled, and that's how it felt! Cruised around with about 1,000,000,000 power boats. Thankfully we were well lit up this year with glow sticks, unlike last year which was a little sketchy. I do love a good Christmas lights paddle :-)

Ride 1:55:00 [3]
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Tuesday night ride from Josh's. Being the last ride before Christmas Josh's two kids came along - Jarrah on the tag along behind Josh, and Kirra on the back of the tandem with me. We rode up to the top of One Tree Hill before they plus Jodie who'd been on my bike hooked up and rode back home. I was pretty knackered by the top of the climb - about 30 minutes uphill with 30kgs on the back offering some short intermittent spurts, but mainly just a lot of chatter! Good fun though and I think they both really enjoyed it. Jumped back on my bike and did a loop with some steep climbs and dodgy rocky descents. I held them up a bit on the downhills but okay on the ups.

Ride 1:03:00 [3] 26.0 km (2:25 / km)
shoes: Giant XTC Team

Bike tracks.

Sunday Dec 18, 2011 #

Run 33:30 [3] 6.1 km (5:30 / km)

Evening pre-roast loop with Dave. My abs up near my sternem are very sore from yesterday, as well as my right lat and left trap.

Saturday Dec 17, 2011 #

Other 2:00:00 [2]

Mt Tamborine high ropes course with Dave. It involves a continuous big loop through the bush where you only come back to the ground twice (via a fireman's style pole), taking 3 hours. The sections gradually get more and more challenging and require plenty of core work. After 10 years af adventure racing I finally did my first tyrolean traverse - I think we did about 6 with the last one being on a decent incline. Loved all of it, highly recommended!

Friday Dec 16, 2011 #

Kayak 1:00:00 [3] 10.1 km (5:56 / km)
shoes: Epic K1 Legacy M

Usual loop. Lower abs sore today.

Thursday Dec 15, 2011 #

Run 35:20 [3] 6.0 km (5:53 / km)

Morning river loop with Maya. Intentions were for a walk with a bit of running but felt cruisy from the get-go so slowly ran the whole loop. No niggles or tight spots except for general gym soreness, particularly my 6 pack.

Ride 1:00:55 [3] 26.0 km (2:21 / km)
shoes: Giant XTC Team

Bike tracks. Came the closest I've ever got to getting bitten by a snake - I just missed it's head, it reared up, but I was too fast and I got away. In hindsight, had I got bitten, I think I should have ridden over it's head.

Gym (Deck of Cards) 9:25 [4]

Tried the new deck of cards session which Dave was talking about last night. I downloaded an app. and did the beginner session as this is my first gym since well before breaking my collarbone in July. Total session was:

Push-ups 54
Sit-ups 54
Dips - 54
Star jumps - 54

It was quite a short session, but I liked the randomness of it. I'll probably be sore tomorrow, but hopefully not too bad.

Kayak 59:00 [3] 10.1 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Epic K1 Legacy M

Two days paddling in a row.... look out! Wash leads again with Dave, and took out the two bridge sprints again. Felt ordinary for the first 20 minutes after gym, but came good for the rest.

Tuesday Dec 13, 2011 #

Ride 1:01:15 [3] 26.0 km (2:21 / km)
shoes: Giant XTC Team

Dandneong and back. I think I'm ready to start running again ... maybe tomorrow.

Kayak 59:15 [3] 10.2 km (5:49 / km)
shoes: Epic K1 Legacy M

Loop of the river and canals with Dave doing wash leads. My upper back, shoulders and arms felt terrible for the first 3kms before loosening up. I felt great for the rest and won both bridge sprints :-) I'll make the most of it before Dave starts getting a bit stronger.

Sunday Dec 11, 2011 #

Ride 1:05:40 [3] 26.0 km (2:32 / km)
shoes: Giant XTC Team

Arvo ride to Dandenong and back. Cruised down with a nice tail wind taking note of the white caps in the river. As expected the ride back was tough but at least it wasn't raining.

Thursday Dec 8, 2011 #

Kayak 1:05:00 [3] 10.4 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Epic K1 Legacy M

Morning loop of Patterson River and canals. I am yet to locate my GPS watch since the move so time is a guess. Pretty slow paddle though, and was constantly back paddling to get seaweed off my rudder. Lovely morning for a paddle though.

Ride 51:25 [3] 22.0 km (2:20 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Arvo ride to Dandenong Bypass and back on the bike tracks.

Wednesday Dec 7, 2011 #

Ride 57:20 [3] 22.0 km (2:36 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Same as yesterday. Left knee a little sore.

Tuesday Dec 6, 2011 #

Ride 1:01:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:46 / km)
shoes: Merida 96 WEAPON

Bike tracks almost to Dandenong and back. Rolled the last 3kms with Dave who was running.
