Inline skating 18:00 [3] 3.9 km (4:37 / km)

Drove up to Albury for the Multisport event. Did a quick warm-up on the skates over the more technical section section of the skate course.
Swim race (MAC '09) 23:17 [4] 2.0 km (11:39 / km)
Race started with a 2km swim down stream on the Murray. Got a good start but I finished in the bottom thrid of the field. Couldn't really expect a better result as my last swim was this race last year. I paced myself off a guy swimming next to me - when he started to pull away I'd roll over to backstroke, then roll back again to freestyle when he's again swim away. Tough leg as I had no swim training under my belt. Dropped 4 minutes on the leading female.
Ride race (MAC '09) 26:15 [4] 9.0 km (2:55 / km)

Felt terrible riding out of the swim, but came okay after about 5 minutes. Had a bit of a crack to try and get quickest female time for this leg, which I got by 45 seconds scoring a quick $50. Bit of climbing and decsending for a 9km leg, but a fun course.
Inline skating race (MAC '09) 23:11 [4] 8.0 km (2:54 / km)

Onto the skate leg, the one I'd most looked forward to. Headed out and was a little untidy over the first technical bit. Was caught by another solo female just as it opened out a bit so sat in the draft. She called me through for a lead about half way through and picked the pace up. I let her passed again for the final technical section (she'd told me she couldn't paddle so I didn't mind helping her out by letting her passed!). I thought I skated well (the only leg I beat Dave on!!!!) but still dropped 3+ minutes on the two leading females.
Kayak race (MAC '09) 35:15 [4] 7.0 km (5:02 / km)
shoes: K1
The paddle leg goes upstream to a turning bouy then comes back to the transition. Worked really hard all the way up attempting to stay out of the current as much as possible. Slightly misjudged the current at the turnaround and collected the buoy with the tail of my boat. It felt like I'd snagged the tail, but it ended well as it just swung me around to face the right direction and I was off again. Another good leg.
Run race (MAC '09) 27:30 [4] 4.5 km (6:07 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Elite
Was pretty flogged by now with the intensity of a short race. The run leg does one lap of the MTB course so is quite good fun. I was surprised to be passing quite a few people on this leg despite not going that quickly as most were walking the steep uphills.
Finished 3rd female solo, so was quite happy. Beat lst year's time by 3min 10sec despite the course this year being 1km longer on the MTB and 1.5km longer on the kayak.
