Pimped the dually up to become the 'super commuter' and entered the 'Amy Gillet Ride' with Dave - a 120km loop around the Bellarine Peninsula. Started near the front of the 3000 odd riders up with a lot of the pro teams. First 30 kms felt okay, often around the 40km/h mark however ran out of gears a couple of times. Hurt a bit up a couple of the hills as they didn't slow down as much as I would have liked. We were about 80 metres from the lead car, then saw a split in the field. Noticed it was Cadel in his rainbow strip who caused the split so we managed to wangle our way up to within striking distance of him. Saw my chance and nudged out another dude and got his wheel, nice! Cruised there for a bit then passed him at the bottom of a hill when he went for his jacket. Never saw him again, I think he was 'tuning' the rest of the field. Got on a few more bunches here a there but also spent a bit of time by ourselves. The wind picked up along 13th Beach which was a struggle. Made it to the finish quite spent having had a number of flat spots. Dave rode strongly considering current stage of fitness!
