Run 28:00 [3] 4.6 km (6:05 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Elite

Made the epic flight to Paris yesterday, then a 5 hour drive to our accommodation in the ski town of Chatel (at alt. of 1200m), just west of the Swiss border. Mountains everywhere. Got up this morning and headed straight out for a cruisy jog with Dave around the town. Very scenic place.

Ride 4:03:40 [3] 61.5 km (3:58 / km)
shoes: Giant XTC Team

Parked the car about 6 kilometres off the Tour route which went through Les Getz. Road up to Les Getz which joined the Cat 3 climb near the end, then descended for ~10kms before starting Cat 1 climb up to Avoriaz and the hilltop finish of Stage 8 - 14kms, climbing 800m vertical. It didn't sound difficult, however it just kept going and going with no let up at all. I have a new respect for the tour riders, particularly the non climbers who suffer the worst. We had reasonably heavy packs too, however MTBs with slicks on was a good idea. When the Tour caravan and then the riders came past it was so exciting. It's very cool to be there, even though we had no idea what was going on for the stage. We then descended as fast as the cars back to our car. Extremely hot day.
